CURRENT MISSION
Mission statements? pffft. How about hedonism?
ABOUT ME
God I hate these things. I prefer lists like 'fav music' fav tv' 'fav film' fave interetsts' etc cos I can just put 'white noise' beside all of them.
I'm no hippy but i'm about as open minded as you can get I guess. I love music, but I love making video to accompany it even more. Electronic stuff mostly. You can see the kinda stuff I get up to at www.meno.tv which will probably mosly just take you to my myspace at the moment cos im too busy to do things like promote my work on teh interwebs.
I do a lot of festivals. A LOT. I love production in all forms, making video (stopmotion mostly), designing screen installations, building stuff, whatever. I also like to be able to let loose a bit once im done. thats why I love what I do. I also meet the most amazing people along the way, share experiences, possessions, and anything else to hand.
I feel massively ambivalent about goodbyes. I love them but I think I just love that inexpressible empty feeling of not knowing if its the last goodbye or the first of many.
I am an agnostic about most philophical topics. that is not to say I dont like discussing them, but i've wasted too much time thinking about not knowing when i could have been having fun, being constructive and still not knowing, all at the same time.
I dont expect this self-description to make a lot of sense to everyone, but i hope it makes sense to some.
PHILOSOPHY
Ignore populist memes:
+ Gaffer tape is NOT a fix-all solution.
+ Life is not better as a cat.
+ 'The matrix' is not a valid expression of existential thought. Under no circumstances may it be referred to in a philosophical discussion.
....etc.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Well we've had people crashing at our various houses ever since i left home, but they've usually been sent to us from friends of ours and friends of friends. there was a period here when we almost always had someone staying round.
we've got loads of space where we currently are.. comfy sofas (not so great if you're 6' plus though) but there's often beds freee and if the owner isnt going to be sleeping in it that night its fair game.
Anything you find in the kitchen you may eat or drink. Nobody owns food or alcohol here. if you want it, take it. we didnt buy it so it could rot in the fridge.

Musik, Filme und Bücher
Movies... early David Lynch, Early Tarrantino, Tarkovsky's the stalker is probably the best film ever made. Oh and 'el hombre mirando al sudeste' the film that k-pax ripped off.
Books. Despite his questionable politics i love Michel Houellebeq's books - 'The possibility of an island' almost tore my heart in two. Chuck Palahniuk rocks - i wish i was a character of his. Favourite author is probably Don delillo though: 'Americana' is possibly one of the finest pieces of fiction ever written.
Music: I'm a born raver: i love electronic music, but im open to just about anything. Eastern-influenced drum and bass i really love: the amen break and sitar were born to be together.
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
I once cycled the entire length of france cos i was bored.
I once saw a guy slip on a banana skin.
I climbed to Annapurna base camp this year, that was pretty cool. It was meant ot be an 8 day round trip but that seemed a bit boring so i did it in 3.
After that i climed another peak with 30kg of food and lived in a buffalo hut for a week or so. Subsistence living. love it.
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I love to teach but most of the information impart on a daily basis has no practical value whatsoever.
I like to explain why I am still unable to decide if Hamlet is the (second) best or the worst play ever written.
... the best play ever written (in my humble opinion) is 'Rosencrantz and Guldenstern are dead' by Tom Stoppard, and the reasons for this are closely linked with those for the comment above.
