Spending the winter in Greece

ABOUT ME

I've been working in the media for two decades, first as a reasonably successful documentary film-maker then as a travel-writer. I now have a master's degree in photojournalism and documentary photography and am concentrating on professional photographic work. I'm currently wintering in Greece and editing down 8,000 photographs I recently took in Russia for a book to be published in the UK next year. I was recommended CS by several people as the ultimate way to get to know the country and its people during my travels.

I've hosted as well as been a guest within the CS community and have also used CS to make really useful contacts around Russia.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

To date I've hosted once and been a guest four times and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Interests

Photography, mobile phone photography, travel, literature, cycling, food (I'm an excellent cook and am currently vegetarian for health reasons), trains, Charles Dickens, Kurt Vonnegut, too much music to mention, the Balkans, networking.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Too many to mention. Being held at gunpoint by a Cuban soldier whilst trying to gain access to an AIDS sanitorium whilst making an undercover film sticks out in the mind.
