About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

Maybe you can best know someone by what they strive for, rather than what they are. My girlfriend and I recently sat down and made life goals lists. So....
1. Change my mind about something I feel very strongly about.
2. Be conversational in 3 languages.
3. Make a video worth submitting to Banff.
4. Travel 500 miles by water, without an engine.
5. Run for 2 hours on a trail where I don't know where it goes, in a country whose language I don't speak.
6. Run a marathon (DONE!!!!).
7. Run a 4.4 40 meter.
8. Travel with a close friend from a foreign country to see where they come from.
9. See a European futbol match.
10. Plant a tree somewhere where I can see it grow up.

Oh, also, in August I will move to either San Diego, CA, Ann Arbor, MI, or Ithaca, NY.

PHILOSOPHY

1) Question everything.
2) There are three types of people: Those who have goals and work to accomplish them, Those who have goals but do not work to accomplish them, and Those who do not have goals.
3) If everyone did what they could, when they could, the world would be a better place.
4) It's meaningful if you can condense your personal philosophy into a short paragraph. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but it's meaningful.
5) If everyone studied and cared about mathematics, the world would be immeasurably different (pun intended).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Haven't had much of a change, yet... But I'd be happy to help people out with a place to stay and/or show them around town.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've slept on, probably, 10 thousand couches in my days, but mostly with friends, friends of friends, acquaintances, and acquaintances of acquaintances. I've hosted similar types of people. I've also spent some nights in the backseats of cars, airports, and tents.

Interests

I love playing sports, but mostly just because I love running. I like movies a bunch, too, and listen to a lot of music. I really enjoy long conversations with people with ideas that are new to me. I grow tired of over-politicized discussions these days, but conversations about ideas (philosophy and human nature) are still my favorite of all activities. Also, I like puppies and climbing moderately tall buildings.

Haitian refugee village in the Northwest Dominican Republic.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been incredibly lucky to have a lot of amazing experiences and meet a lot of amazing people in my life. I love being in situations where some of my experiences allow me to say something worthwhile (usually stolen from someone else), but I have a lot to learn, and try to listen as much as I talk. Don't know if that really answers the question...
