About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to remain a workaholic without a job, satisfying my desire for new travel experiencs

ABOUT ME

I'm someone who likes connecting with others, preferably on a 1-1basis. I want to know how other people feel about their life and what they want to do in their future. I started traveling so that I can do community work in other countries. I have done that and enjoyed being immersed in the local culture.
When I travel I like to have a purpose, so I often work for $0. It's nice to be able to work because I want to, choose to, and not because I feel that I have to.

PHILOSOPHY

That kindness is contagious, that a smile and a kind gesture can mean so much to another person.
That we never really know the effects of our own kindness to others, or the ripple effect - just that there is one

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am fairly new to CS, and though my place is rented out when I am traveling, I am looking forward to the day when I can host people and show them around. I know how different a place can be just by having someone who cares enough to show me around and explain how their town is...I am looking forward to being able to do this also. I think it is people who make a place enjoyable, not necessarily the places and buildings.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with 2 x CSurfers so far and met a few others, and I have quickly realised what amazing experiences this are. I think that whoever designed CSurfing, is a truly insightful person!

Interests

Reading, swapping travel stories, researching anything I'm interested in, traveling (of course), chess, personal & spiritual growth, helping out where I can

Music, Movies, and Books

Robbin Williams "What Dreams May Come".

Music - quiet blissful stuff

Books - non-fiction..books about people who have done inspirational things, faced their fears and who have done good for others

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took my daughter out of school when she was 8, and we traveled overseas for the first time for both of us. We stayed away for 9 months and met our families in Paris and in UK. I learned as well as showed her that the world and its amazing people are accessible.

Teach, Learn, Share

I really enjoy people who are 'present' when communicating - right there in the moment, right there with me - living whatever it is that we are sharing together. I'm not good at small-talk, but will talk to people for as long as they wish about how their life is going, how my life is going, and how to make it better - especially for the greater good

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can share stories, silence, food, smiles, generally just being kind :)

Belgium, Cambodia, Cyprus, Fiji, France, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Portugal, Scotland, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Wales
