ABOUT ME

I'm a composer - writing and playing music is my main activity. I have been able to travel with music a bit in the last couple of years, and I hope I can keep that happening. I also currently work as a music teacher (in person and over Skype) and a music archivist.

I'm always interested in learning new things, meeting new people, having new experiences. I'm quite friendly, and I really like puns... I'm quite a deep thinker, but also sociable and like to go out.

I grew up in Perth, Western Australia, and I've been living in Melbourne since 2012.

PHILOSOPHY

Seeking out what the world has to offer and sharing as much of myself as I can... I want to make a positive difference, whatever that actually means. Treating people with respect is very important to me. At the end of the day, my greatest desire is to make great, real, art and music.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am fairly new to CS, and although my first intention in joining was to look at accommodation options, I didn't realise how strong the community was then. I fully intend to use CS to contribute to the community and meet interesting people, and to host travellers when I get back to Australia.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hope to find some places to stay on my travels through Europe this July and August, and hopefully meet some awesome people! I would like to be able to get an insider's look at the places I go.

Interests

In general I want to see and experience as much as I can, stay open minded, and develop as a person. I like to play music, read books, watch movies and documentaries, exercise, learn new things, cook, go out, socialise, relax, laugh... There never seems to be enough time in my day for everything I want to do. I'm interested in philosophy, ethics, psychology, and different forms of spirituality.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too much to name, anything that is good.
Music: currently into FKA Twigs, Captain Beefheart, JacobTV, Dungen, Crowded House, Hudson Mohawke, Fever Ray.

I like classical and traditional music from all over the world too, and I play Balinese gamelan. I did my music honours thesis on the link of Javanese traditional music to experimental music in Java.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once saw a lady on the train who was knitting faster than I thought possible... for 20 minutes straight... the concentration was amazing.. it was crazy... I had to hide my laughter... haha!
