关于我
Hey Hey!
I'm Mitch. I used to be a graphic designer - then I turned into a part-time sourdough baker for a bit - then into a part time chef. Now I'm going full time chef.
I care a lot about good quality food and farming, sustainability and good health for people and the planet. My ambition in the long run is therefore to do something somewhat wholesome that helps people and makes a positive impact on the world - ideally through the medium of food.
I'm into nature, hiking, beautiful scenery and all that jazz. I'm also a sucker for the city on occasions though too - there are definite perks - I enjoy a good bar, a good restaurant, a good coffee shop and a trip to a nice exhibition or museum when I can. I'm partial to a bit of photography and I'm always keen to try and observe other crafts.
我为什么加入 Couchsurfing
I've heard from some of my favourite people in this world that this is an amazing place to meet some amazing people. I'm here to see for myself.
兴趣
I've got a curious mind, so I'm always keen to figure out how things work or learn something new.
Though I've turned my back on my career in design, I still very much enjoy all things art/design, so checking out an exhibition, a gig, a movie or an interesting building is one way to keep myself occupied.
If I'm feeling lazy, I love a good coffee in a cosy cafe or a craft beer in a relaxed little pub.
Getting outside is always on my agenda. I'm all about having a good explore, whether that means touring the city on a bicycle, or the countryside in my walking boots.
I love to share ideas and stories and I can probably blab on for hours about my food philosophy. I'm not a preacher though. I promise.

音乐、电影和书籍
MUSIC
Spotify's discover weekly delivers great music to my ears every single week but I'm terrible at remembering names so it can be pretty hard to say what music I'm into. We can put my Spotify on shuffle and figure it out together or, I can do my best to express it through this amalgamation of words: Radio 6, Alternative, Hip-Hop, Rap, Electro, Classical, Psychedelic Rock...Wild Beasts, Caribou, Lapsley, Genghar, Django Django, Cloud Control, Metronomy, Glass Animals, Hot 8 Brass Band, Nils Frahm, Rolling Stones, Steppenwolf, Rodriguez, Milky Chance, Bat for Lashes, Daughter, Tame Impala, Beach House, Bahamas, Frank Ocean, Kendrik Lemar, Flume, Nick Cave, Brian Eno, LA Priest, Future Islands, Fyfe, etc., etc.
SCREEN
I love movies, and I really love a good documentary. Like most British people, David Attenborough is my nature documentary hero.
Some all time movie favourites would have to be: Beginners, Boyhood, Diving Bell & The Butterfly, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, anything Wes Anderson, Into the Wild, Wild, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, A Single Man, Black Fish, Whiplash, Under the Skin, Chef, Pride, Lost in Translation.
As far as series go, I loves Breaking Bad, I continue to love Game of Thrones and I'm currently obsessed with Chef's Table on Netflix.
I recently found Steve Cougan's 'Mid Morning Matters' utterly hilarious.
BOOKS
I'm not going to lie to you. I don't read nearly as much as I'd like. But some recent favourites: The Third Plate by Dan Barber, Just Kids by Patti Smith, Food Rules by Michael Pollan, Revolution by Russell Brand, Freedom by Jonathon Franzen.
I mostly read cook books to be honest. Yotam Ottolenghi and Anna Jones are my home-cook heroes. Check 'em out.
我做过的一件不可思议的事情
I survived a bullet to the head. True Story. Less dramatic than it sounds, but I'll tel you all about it either way.
教,学,和分享
I'd love to share a top-notch cuppa coffee, a slice of delicious sourdough bread or a lovely home-cooked meal with you. I can show you how to make real bread - traditional, artisanal, sourdough bread. Who doesn't love a good loaf? If you're interested I can share some design/software skills too. I also dabble in a little climbing/bouldering so I could totally show you some basic techniques at the wall.
Current Learning Goals:
I'd love to learn Italian, maybe some pottery/ceramics, some new cooking techniques...anything really - surprise me.
