About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Settle into Prague. I will be studying here for the next six months, so building networks will be key in making the most of this awesome city :)

Hey, I'm a small town guy. I grew up in a town called Bittern, south east of Melbourne. A place known for its mix of farm and suburban life rather than a busy party capital.
But, being a guy of the times i grew up to want more excitement and so this is partly why i moved the city of Melbourne. There I've lived for the past 2 years studying at RMIT and living in various share houses with many interesting characters from all over the world.
My time in Melbourne has been based around my studies of civil engineering and business. Ive balanced this out with some pretty cool jobs like kite board instructing, and teaching kids how to rock climb, along with some typical hospo jobs. I consider myself an interesting and sociable guy who gets along with everyone, and when the times right count me in for a fun night out. As i have discovered living with travelers is contagious and so here i am on the other side of the world doing an exchange program. For me this is a great opportunity to discover different cultures and put isolated Australian living into context. Also, i see it as a challenge in getting out of my comfort zone and seeing what networks i can build in a year abroad, hopefully building some lifelong friendships along the way!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I see Couchsurfing as a great way to mix with people and cultures from around the world, and offer a home to those in need. My previous share house hosted many Couchsurfers who offered many interesting stories and perspectives from around the world. I hope to do the same!

Interests

I tend to dabble in many a hobby over short periods, like 6 months and then something new. These include SCUBA, paragliding, surfing, tennis, AFL and motorbiking. Ive developed a passion for Kitesurfing over the last 5 years and also skiing and rock climbing. More recently i have taken up squash as a weekly activity. Other than these i have always been one for the outdoors and enjoy hiking whenever possible.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was offered to join a hiking trip in Tasmania with a new uni pal, i couldn't say no since tassy is such an awesome place! although i wasn't aware that my hiking buddy is an ex spec ops guy and marathon runner. Day one, my 20+ kg pack and relatively unfit self where 15km into the hike and half way up the largest ascent of the trip. I was ready to call it a day. Man i was tested, the whole time with antagonizing 'you can do it' talk from ahead. Despite the near heart attack and through ruthless self coaching i managed to survive and more importantly save face and keep up! Though not worthy of the press i consider this the hardest physical challenge i have faced to date, next stop K2.
