About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Having moved back to the States from New Zealand, I'm excited to get back out and do more exploring!

ABOUT ME

I am a graphic designer who can't say no. I work full time with one caveat: I must still make time for my personal projects. Thankfully my day job involves designing books at an indie comics publisher, so I'm surrounded by fantastic art and writing. I also play the drums (jazz, rock, etc.) and am always looking for someone to jam with!

I'm usually the person at the party who is daydreaming about the book I'm currently reading. I love to travel because it fires the imagination and creates a sense of displacement that is wholly energizing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have met lasting friends through Couchsurfing and have had only positive experiences!

Interests

Reading, typography, type design (let's talk about fonts!), neon signage, mid-century architecture, playing the drums and participating in jazz jams, music, the obscure and forgotten, the uncanny, ghost stories, cycling as transport, walking when everyone else drives, greyhounds and greyhound advocacy, good food, coffee, the beauty of tea, fermentation, the politics of eating, wandering, sitting in mid-century diners for hours on end and drawing the strangeness around me. This is what makes me happiest.

Music, Movies, and Books

If you are Daniel Clowes, Alain de Botton, or Carlos Reygadas, I will happily give you my kidneys.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2016 I toured Pripyat and Chernobyl. It was an haunting experience and I felt so privileged to learn more about the people who lived through this disaster. The images of overgrown cities and abandoned buildings will be with me forever.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an excellent vegetarian cook, but I'm happy to pitch in with any kind of cooking! I love typography and can talk for hours about how type filters through our everyday visual experience and affects us much more than we think.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experience of living all over the United States and overseas. I am an observer and I love to hear people's stories. I am kind, considerate, and tidy.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Belarus, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, England, Germany, Japan, Moldova, Myanmar, Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, Thailand, Ukraine

Countries I’ve Lived In
