About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see as much of the world as possible and meet people from all over the world!

ABOUT ME

Bonjour!

I'm originally from Canada. I currently live and work as a teacher in Sweden. It's a tough job to be responsible for moulding the young minds of the next generation... so naturally lots of vacation time is crucial ;)

I explore/travel as much and as often as I can. I've been to quite a few places but naturally the list is never-ending. I caught the travel bug back when I first visited family in Croatia as a teenager; it's been game over since then.

I love to hike and spend time outside whether it's sunny or snowing. When I visit a new place, I'd rather explore more natural landscapes but getting lost in the city is fun too.

Of course I could continue to talk about myself for hours .... but I'll spare you that. Currently planning my summer travels around Europe and looking for some couches to surf on // people to explore with!

PHILOSOPHY

Carpe diem.

Interests

Well the obvious... travel! (planes, trains, cars and automobiles.. I'm not picky); hiking; yoga; painting; music festivals; cooking; drinking excessive amounts of vino; learning new languages

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In May 2012, I spent a month in Ghana volunteering and travelling with four other girls. We stayed in a little town called Eguafo where we spent time at the Children's Centre and taught at the local school. The people I travelled with and those I met in this month completely changed my perspective on life. I can't even begin to describe the effect that this experience had on me. I think the biggest thing I learned first hand is how much more important community, empathy and social contact is than any of the material things that we often place so much importance on. Disconnecting from my regular life and seeing how other people lived under different circumstances filled me with a sense of intrinsic happiness I've never felt before. I went there expecting to help others with good intention but without a full understanding of what it meant. I left a changed person.

Teach, Learn, Share

Below is a quote from one of my favourite authors. I think it's important to always approach new experiences and situations with open eyes, an open mind, and an open heart!

Don't Compare. You are not traveling in order to prove that you have a better life than other people – your aim is to find out how other people live, what they can teach you, how they deal with reality and with the extraordinary. ♥ - Paul Coelho
