About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Say YES!
(Ah and also... to go to Ushuaia by bicycle from Seattle)

ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm a French 30 year old guy who loves to go out and to travel! I was born in Germany, and we moved to France when I was 2 years old. My mother is German and my father is French, so I'm bilingual in both langages. But I must confess that after my roadtrip from Moscow to Sydney and a year in Australia, living in Kenya for 2 years, I am more fluent in English than German... weird haha And I think that's one of the reasons why I'm also open to everything (never say no during a trip, remember), I've no particular roots and want to discover the most possible places and people!

I finished my studies in 2015, a double degree in engineering (AgroParisTech) and in politicial sciences (Sciences Po Paris), but at first I really had the feeling that I didn't want to work straight after my studies, so I went on this trip from Moscow to Sydney in 2015-2017. No regrets! But this little voice telling me "Pierre, maybe you should do something with your studies" made me come back from travels and I worked for nearly 4 yers in Africa, mostly in Kenya and Comoros. Now I can say I achieved a solar power plant! Which is great but for so long I couldn’t stop thinking about traveling again... So as soon as I could leave the project and the company, I started this new project: cycling from Seattle to Ushuaia! So far so good! :)

PHILOSOPHY

Say YES to (almost) everything !

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been hosted a lot all over the world, and I’ve given back a lot before this trip with my little rooms in Paris, my apartment with a pool in Nairobi, my huge house in Comoros... I like that my references are now 50/50 hosting/surfing.

When I’m not traveling for myself or for work, depending on the couchrequest and the profile, I'll just introduce you to how I live: sports or parties or weekend trips, depending on the day and on motivation!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been hosted a lot in the US, in a Californian trip (2013), in my last Montreal-Miami by hitch hiking trip (2014), a lot all over the world actually since my little world tour from Moscow to Sydney and back to Europe via South America, and I mostly had positive experiences, in some amazing situations sometimes... I just regret that some people really seem to be using CS as a dating app which is really retarded.
I also hosted some people, and it has also been (almost) always nice and really easy!

Interests

I love sports and in particular cycling as you may guess, I joined a club for 2 years but it didn't correspond that much to the kind of biking that I like. I also run or play volleyball/football 3 times a week, go hiking when I'm in great places.

But what I do a lot when I’m home is to go out in some bars or some parties with friends on their flats! Chilled evenings with friends are also frequent.

And of course, my passion n°1 is to travel, to go to places that I don't know, to trust people, to discover a country with almost no plan, to hitch hike and meet crazy people... Every time I have some time left I always look on the map and see where I could go hehe

Music, Movies, and Books

Hmm my favorite film is Mr. Nobody, but in the top 3 there are also The Truman Show and Inglorious Bastards (and of course, Yes Man hehe).
I listen to music that I discover like this on Youtube, and in particular on chains like Le Cercle / Anjunadeep / or just some DJs I like. SoundCloud’s weekly thing or Upload is great too for house mix etc

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being hosted by a gay nudist in San Francisco!
Sleeping in toilets in Vegas!
Doing a catamaran trip under the GoldenGate Bridge... epic!
Bungee-jumping in 80 meters!
200 km in a day in the french Alpes by bike!
Jumping into frozen water! (2 degrees + ice)
Hitch hiking from Montreal to Miami!
77 hours in an american prison!
Traveling from Moscow to Sydney!
Driving an old treasure hunters' 4WD on Rainbow Beach!
Fake Dj-ing at Rainbow serpent in front of thousands of people!
Sleeping on random beaches with "crocodiles inhabit this areas" signs! (because no couchsurfers haha)
Being welcomed by chance on a small Fiji island among locals for a traditionnal wedding!
Falling from a bridge in Berlin!
Wild camping without guards in the Masai Mara with Elephants and hippos!
Still being alive!
