About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Happily transitioning

ABOUT ME

I have a Step sister, Lyndsay, from my mother's second marriage, and a half brother, Mike, from my father's second marriage. Lynds is older than me and just married Don Fawthorp July, 2010! they live on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. Mike is younger and determined to be a baseball star, and he is very good. I just graduated From Skidmore College in May, 2010 with a Self-Determined major in US Diversity Studies and a minor in Sociology. I have recently been accepted to an AmeriCorps position working with Community Mediation Maryland outside of Baltimore. I will be applying to graduate programs and am hoping to combine my interests in mediation and diversity (any suggestions?). Hopefully I will be out West this time next year. I am also super excited to not settle down any time soon and to have lots of fun exploring the world.

PHILOSOPHY

I think it is most important to hold onto your beliefs, but leave yourself open to being enlightened; that you should never impose your self on others, but share as much as possible when invited; and always stop and enjoy the view.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My boyfriend turned me on to Couch Surfing while we were studying abroad in New Zealand July 2009. I had a great time and would really like to give back. I met the greatest Dane, Maria, in Australia and happily hosted her at school this past year (2010). As soon as I am settled, I would like to explore with other surfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

First experience just June 30, 2009.

Interests

I love visiting new places, meeting new people, trying new things. I love hand work, especially cross stitching, but also knitting, spinning, and other stuff. I like books, museums, art, salsa dancing, music, cards, hiking, kayaking, pretty much anything out doors.

Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Teach, Learn, Share

Every one has biases, no matter what. Feeling guilty about them only distracts attention away from the work needed to be done to get past them. only you know how you truly feel or what you truly are thinking, but people always can see thing that you might miss or have never been able to see before. the familiar is the hardest to see but it is important to be sure not to assume that you know whats best when judging the unknown.

you can use clear nail polish to bind fraying fabrics.

combine chick peas, other vegies, protein (meat/tofu), curry powder, cumin, yogurt and bananas to make an amazing curry (add cyan for spice)

you can walk bare foot EVERY where in NZ (even in the super markets).

My dog will do anything if she thinks she's going to get food.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Canada, China, Cook Islands, France, Puerto Rico, Spain, Virgin Islands, British, Virgin Islands, U.S.
