Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Our mission is to experience the daily lives of people as we travel and host, so that we can better see how interconnected we all are in our similarities as well as become exposed to new ways of thinking and living
ABOUT ME
Matt is currently a postdoc in Ecology and Marta is a medical resident, both at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota.
We like to reflect and think about all the experiences the world throws at you. We enjoy conversations over beer or coffee and having new adventures, but we also enjoy curling up on the couch with a good book or getting sucked into a fun TV show.
Unfortunately, with us both being busy in school, we don't have a ton of extra time to spend with potential surfers -- nonetheless, we are happy to provide a place to stay and good conversations over meals/in the evenings.
PHILOSOPHY
Make time for contemplation- you will get to know yourself better and in doing so will be better able to love yourself and others. Push yourself to always be open to new people and new experiences, even when you don't feel like it. Every person and every experience has something valuable to teach you if you are receptive.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We have both been hosts and surfers ourselves.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We discovered couchsurfing for the first time through some friends in Krakow, Poland with a host named Michael. He was so wonderful and welcoming that we knew we wanted to join the community. Since then, we have stayed with hosts in France and twice here in the states as well. As our traveling days were constrained by school, we continued as hosts and have enjoyed hearing of others' adventures and travels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Going to Africa on my own was by far the most formative thing I've done. I volunteered at a hospital there and the things I saw troubled me and transformed me. I hope to never let go of those memories and use them to fuel me as I earn my MD.
