CURRENT MISSION
Back in Sweden to settle down again
ABOUT ME
I got used to living in various countries on different continents long long ago, enjoy meeting people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
PHILOSOPHY
Even if it is hard to do anything about the length of your life; it is certainly possible to do something about its width, depth and density.
It's possible to postpone death by living, giving, receiving with gratitude...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I try to broaden my horizon through couchsurfing - meeting other CS members, helping them when I can and asking for help when I need.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've surfed quite a few couches - almost always "extremely positive" when that option was available - and have had numerous friends/relatives and their friends/relatives as guests, including 6 CouchSurfing guests: Sophie (guest as well as host) from Jessheim, Jerome from Toulouse, a photographer from Bristol (this guest's profile has somehow disappeared completely) and three Polish teenagers who were absolutely adorable despite the challenge we had with communications due to language barrier.
Interests
Alpine skiing with my family, chatting with friends preferably outdoors e.g. while walking in a quiet place, creative cooking, classical music, classical ballet,

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: The Sound of Music, La vita è bella, detective stories, documentaries on history, science, health, geography, travel/cooking/food etc.
Music: depending on circumstances often classical esp. of piano, ballet,
Books: the most interesting book seems to be life itself.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was in Kyoto when the Great Hanshin earthquake (Mj7.3/Mw6.8) occurred, leaving around 300 000 people homeless (more than 6000 lost their lives). I offered my scholarship as well as my home to those in need. Since then I've been invited to so many Japanese homes by incredibly hospitable and considerate Japanese friends. Some of them have visited us in Sweden as well.
Let me add one thing relevant to CS but in a Pre-CS era - amazing at least to my non-CS friends: on a train journey to Gothenburg where I used to live, two cheerful Japanese girls asked me about local accommodation. Shortly before arrival I decided to invite them for a homestay. Some years later I repaid them a visit in Osaka on my way from Berkeley to Kyoto :)
Teach, Learn, Share
teach: mathematical thinking, creative cooking, languages, and so on (perhaps even how to enjoy various delicious food without gaining too much weight :)
learn: I'd like to be better at playing the piano, or anything you are good at/would like to teach me - I'm usually a quick learner, can probably make you proud of having been my teacher :)
share: cultural differences and similarities, cuisine, language exchange, travel experiences. I find it relaxing and enriching to chat with people who frankly talk about whatever they have in minds, their experiences, their dreams, ...
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can help with cooking, gardening, babysitting, house sitting, decluttering/organising home etc.
