About Me
Hello! My name is Marissa and I am very new to Couchsurfing, but also very excited to meet some interesting new people. I currently live in Denver, Colorado but starting in June I will be in Europe for three months, traipsing across the continent. I grew up traveling with my family, but got a taste of solo travel back in 2012 when I went on my first trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Naturally I fell in love with the country, the people, the food, and exploring things on my own...so here I am 5 years later ready to take on Europe!
Currently I am finishing up my last semester of my undergrad (8 years later) where I'm studying International Relations, which has really opened up my eyes to the world that is out there. In my free time, I'm usually singing on YouTube, hiking the Rocky Mountains, brewery hopping with friends, or virtually exploring new places.
I'm super laid back and generally get along with anyone. I always try to find the best in people and I know that no matter you can always find SOME kind of connection with someone. Last year I was a host on AirBnb and really met some amazing people from around the world. I figured Couchsurfing would be a great next step! I'm looking for a bit more of a personal touch, whereas the money aspect of AirBnb can feel more businesslike, I think Couchsurfing will allow for greater connections and a bit more interaction between guest/host.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting new people and I think Couchsurfing would be a great way to save money on my travels while also meeting some awesome people! I'm super interested in checking out places the way a local would, so I'm looking for like minded people who would like to show me around and open my eyes to things regular tourists may not get to see/do!
Interests
I spend a lot of my time singing and listening to music. I love to share music with people and it's always fun to get a good group of people together to jam with, maybe make a sweet YouTube video for my channel :)
In terms of traveling, I'm a much more laid back type of traveler. I like to get to a place and basically just wander around until I find something interesting to check out. I love going to watch and see where the locals go and what they do to try and get as immersed into the culture as possible.
When I'm in a new place I love to check out breweries or cool bars, really hip coffee shops with friendly baristas, or awesome markets with cheap local goods! I'm always down to enjoy a cold drink with a new friend!

Music, Movies, and Books
If I can sing it, or it has great lyrics, amazing vocals, or a nice melody, I'm in! --> Some of my favorites are Brandi Carlile, Ryn Weaver, Billy Joel, John Mayer.
Movies and books I don't really have time for, so I don't really have any favorites. But the movies I enjoy are usually psychological thrillers, satires or independent films.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Just one? Jeez. Probably the time I successfully completed a real life Chinese fire drill in the middle of a busy intersection in Orlando FL. Two cars. 10 people. My aunt was in the trunk.
There are pictures and videos to prove it.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I can (maybe) teach you how to sing! Or how to cook a kick ass breakfast burrito, because let's be real...who doesn't like breakfast burritos?
Learn: I would love to learn a new language. Honestly, any language. Or how to wink, because I am insanely jealous of those who can.
Share: I can share with you my love of music, my optimistic attitude about almost everything, and if I have any left, you can have some of my beef jerky, too.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Wait...didn't I just answer this?
Well. I can be your personal jukebox, filling your home with the sound of music...and if we are in Austria, then literally the Sound of Music.
I can share stories about the time I worked as an elf at the mall during Christmas time.
I can share your space with you really well.
I can share cooking duties to make us a bomb meal.
I can share my opinions on Russia's foreign policy, or how I think Negan is going to be killed when it all finally happens.
Countries I’ve Visited
Argentina, Costa Rica, Mexico
