About Me

Hello!

I'm Esa, a computer science person from Finland who loves going out on adventures. Always looking for new ways of thinking, I enjoy trying out all sorts of activities. I'm also very interested in doing something to improve the world, whether it be philanthropic, artistic, work-related, global, local, or anything inbetween!

I recently moved to Tokyo and started working here, and have been enjoying it a lot. Since I hosted and got to know a bunch of people in 2017, I'd like to keep the tradition going! Especially now that things have settled a bit and my apartment is functional again. :)

If you need a place to stay at or just want to hang out, make sure to get in touch!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to help fellow travellers out, make new friends, and get to know how other people think about the world and themselves. Having a place to stay at when travelling myself doesn't sound bad either.

Music, Movies, and Books

I think all genres can be appreciated in the right mood. However, I enjoy anything that can get me to ponder, especially the following books:

Four Hour Work-Week (Tim Ferriss)
Thinking, Fast and Slow (Daniel Kahneman)
The Republic (Plato)

And the following films:

The Matrix
(Your Name)
Don't Hug Me I'm Scared

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I made an online game in two days: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/invasion

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to learn more Japanese, and have been lately interested in learning more about penmanship, graphic design / editing, as well as product design and business management.

If you are interested, I can teach you about things like programming, photography, Finnish or Japanese language, how computers work, or how to win at games. ^^

What I Can Share with Hosts

A great time and some photographs, at the very least. I'll try to bring some small souvenir from Finland as well!

Countries I’ve Visited
