ABOUT ME

I studied abroad for one semester at King's College London, and I just graduated from Bryn Mawr College near Philadelphia in Computer Science and Mathematics. Now, I work as a software developer and researcher near Boston.

I used to study Classical Culture and Languages, and I am absolutely fascinated by the Romans. My family is Italian, and I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively in Italy. Unfortunately, my Italian is rather spotty, but I can talk easily and fluently about food. I'm a bit food obsessed (okay, maybe more than a bit), so I really enjoying being able to try new foods when I travel.

I used to ride horses competitively, but since I left for college, I haven't had much of an opportunity to ride. I picked up Taekwondo when I moved out to the Boston area. Other than that, I'm really interested in movies and love watching a good film. I can't say I have a favorite, but I really enjoy Terry Gilliam, Stanley Kubrick, and a lot of classic films.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't know... I think laughter is very important in life. But so is good company... And good food.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For awhile, I was just surfing, as my housing accommodations were too cramped to comfortably host anyone. Hopefully, I'll be able to host people now that I'm living in a real apartment. It's really dependent on my schedule, unfortunately. However, you can also message me if you're looking for some food recommendations around Philly, Boston, or London. I keep a little diary of reviews for every place I eat at.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first CouchSurfing experience was in Cardiff, Wales and that was an absolutely fantastic experience. I CouchSurfed for two weeks around Europe, and that's when I became enthralled. I haven't had a couch for the last year or more, and I'm hoping that I can find the time to start hosting people now!

Been horseback riding for 14 years... It's kind of my life.

Otherwise, I really enjoy movies, archery, cooking/baking, trying new foods, watching rugby, traveling, being outdoors in warm weather, beautiful countryside... life, really.

I spoke a little about my movie interests in my "about me" section. Off the top of my head, I'd say favorite movies are The Princess Bride, Serenity, American Beauty, Dr. Strangelove, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, The Fall... I don't know. I love a lot of movies. On TV, I watch 30 Rock, Firefly, Sherlock, Jekyll, Community, Modern Family, and Doctor Who, mostly. I didn't have TV at college, so I don't watch as many shows.

In terms of music, I'm not very familiar with a lot of my generation's pop music, but I enjoy a lot of smaller, indie-type bands. I listen to a lot of rock. I grew up listening to The Beatles, and now I listen to stuff like The Magnetic Fields, The Airborne Toxic Event, The Dresden Dolls, Bon Iver, The Decemberists, Interpol, The Killers, and the World/Inferno Friendship Society.

For books, I really enjoy sci-fi/fantasy. I read all of Neil Gaiman's books. I read a lot of Philip Pullman growing up. Also, the classics: Ender's Game, Dune...
