About Me
Well, one way of sharing who I am is sharing my mantra: these are words I say to myself on a regular basis, to reconnect me to my core sense of self. Here it is:
------
My context:
- I live at a time when survival is the goal, with climate change emerging as the greatest threat facing humanity, created by humanity.
- I’m part of a cultural narrative unwilling to admit interdependence with all living things.
- I’m complicit in a recent assault on a delicate biosphere.
In this context, this is who I am:
- I wear many labels, some that I’m most proud of: Partner. Brother. Leader. Doer. Friend.
- I am always doing my best.
- I am the sum of all my experience.
- I live for equality – be it in voices heard, wealth distributed, opportunities available, whose stories are told, or where power lies.
- I deeply enjoy and am inspired by the process of creation. I love to create.
I aspire:
- To be kind. Generous. Genuine. And joyful.
- To both contribute to the solution, and take care of myself.
- To bring two elements of nature to the human dynamics all around me: diversity & moderation.
- To stay humble & open-minded.
- To live out what I value.
I choose, everyday:
- To recognize my privilege and give a voice to those with less of it.
- To give grace.
- To be grateful.
- To derive a sacred meaning from each moment.
- To always see life as a grand adventure, and to revel in it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been on Couchsurf for years because of all the memorable experiences it's afforded me, both hosting and travelling. For me it is about connecting with a new place more meaningfully with people who live there. It's been a wonderful way to introduce people to my own city as well. And I love that there's no money exchanged - a perfect example of how community is more powerful than the economy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A few summers ago I took a month off work and set out on my bike. It was an incredible experience. I was struck by how differently I breathed on the trip, how clear my thinking was, and how much I learned about myself in such a short period of time.
