Me in very few words: Pacifistic Ecolog/Environmentalist, Phenomenologist, Anarcho(?)-Eco(?)-Feminist & Teetotal Egalitarian Atheist.

I am into literature, museums, history, politics, photography, all sorts of intellectual things and know a bit about everything. Despite my degrees I've also dabbled in Book Science, Anthropology, Linguistics, Sustainable Energy Systems (i.e. Engineering), Swedish and Dutch at university level. Also Dance Photography and Wildlife Film Making courses; sound and audio engineering; VJing. I love all forms of media, can't leave house without a book.

I've cycled most of Europe; been to Palestine / Israel on bicycle. Recently moved back to Germany from England - also on bicycle.

I don't drink. I am not into parties, pubs or loud and crowded places. I don't mind others drinking (socially).

I am also really curious about people. I always have a little sign saying "If you feel like talking, have a seat, I enjoy listening" with me when travelling; most people ignore that sign. Those that actually do sit down have the most fantastic stories to tell.

I am a fan of solo travel.

I am on the introverted side. Not shy, mind you, but prefer to really be able to talk to someone in depth. I am supposedly quite empathetic and a good and attentive listener.

I like graveyards. There's little that tells you as much about a society as quickly as how, and what for, they commemorate and remember their dead.

I want to see the dark sides of life as well as the nice ones. I want to breathe in the whole atmosphere of a place I visit, not just the shiny, polished touristy side of it. I love exploring and approaching new places without a pre-conceived idea what they are like, with no expectations on what I want from that place I visit; instead just being there allowing myself to be surprised whenever I turn another street corner or reach the next valley.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've only just joined. I'll see what happens :).

Nine guests happened in 2010. Stayed with others once.

Two guests appeared in 2011 (couldn't host much :( ).

No guests in 2012 (but lodging in a CS house). Stayed with others once.

Nothing happened in 2013, 2014, 2015 (still lodging in same house). Had to leave the UK, stayed with two others on my cycling trip back home. Am sharing house, now in Germany, and still can't host. Sadly. Once I have my own space again I'll restart.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Various. Stayed with people all over and shared my sleeping places with anything from cats to rabbits.

I've stayed overnight in an igloo I've built in the Scottish mountains; with other activists on the floor of an apartment rented by the Israeli Solidarity Movement in Bi'lin, Palestine; done loads of wild camping. I am really easy and low maintenance.

Music Genres: Anything from experimental jazz to minimalist electronica to world music, to grunge/grind core/metal, classical, pop, country, folk ... . Good music by people that have musical talent. That's pretty much all it takes.

Movies: Some blockbusters, but few in comparison to independent / "world" cinema. Directors that impressed me include Abbas Kiarostami, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Ari Folman, Hayao Miyazaki ...
