About Me
***I DO NOT LIVE IN / NEAR New York City!!!!!***
Please read my entire profile before you send me a request.
I'm a pretty normal person. Doing the whole Monday-Friday thing these days, so I'm eager to host and travel vicariously through my guests. Traveling is my biggest passion in life. Tomorrow isn't promised, so it's important to live your life now! I love trying to learn languages. I'm obsessed with my dog; I'm pretty sure it's mutual. I love hanging out with my family and friends!
I currently live with my parents in Waterloo, NY. They're retired and they travel a lot themselves. Waterloo is 2 hours away from Niagara Falls, and roughly 4-6 hours away from NYC, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Philly, Baltimore, and DC. Waterloo is a very small town located in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of NY state. It is conveniently located near many activities (keep reading to find out what they are).
Here are some recommendations about visiting this area:
First, you will likely need a car, because there are not many public transportation options or taxis.
There are many pretty lakes and state parks nearby.
There are a couple of museums (mostly just historical houses) in Waterloo, Seneca Falls, and Geneva. The women's rights national historic park is in Seneca Falls.

There is a brand new casino, Del Lago, in Waterloo right off the highway (thruway exit 41). They have comedians or performers every week. Del Lago has lots of great food and drinks!
I highly recommend visiting the wineries. There are many transportation companies that you can hire and they will drive you to usually 4 to 6 different wineries, and most of them will help you plan your trip as well. If you tell me what kind of wine you like, I can give you some recommendations. The Finger Lakes area is especially known for its Rieslings. Some of the wineries also serve food. Some will also offer tours of the vineyards. There are also some distilleries and breweries in the area.

We have an outlet mall in Waterloo near the thruway. It's worth a visit, as sometimes you can find good deals. The food court is worthless, which brings me to my final suggestion.

Finally, I recommend the following restaurants:
In Waterloo: Mac's Drive-In (a local favorite, open summers only), Stan's, del Lago, The First Dragon (for good "Chinese" food)
In Seneca Falls: Parker's, 84 Fall Street, Max's Custard (for ice cream; summers only)
In Geneva: Beef and Brew, Torrey Park Grill, Ports, Cobblestone, Kindred Fare, Halsey's, Red Dove Tavern, Ichiro (for Hibachi! So yummy and so fun!).
If you want to go a little farther out, Syracuse, Rochester, Watkins Glen, Niagara Falls, and Ithaca are nearby cities that are definitely worth a visit.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm obsessed with the Harry Potter series. Jodi Picoult is probably my favorite author. I like to listen to audio books while I road trip. 😁
Some of my favorite artists are Les Cowboys Fringants!, Volbeat, Breaking Benjamin, Orelsan, Stromae💗, Louane, most punk rock bands from the early 2000s... I think Adele is amazing, I also like listening to music in other languages.... please give me suggestions! 😊
I like most movies! I love Disney movies, comedies, fantasy.... I'm OBSESSED with Game of Thrones, so please talk to me about it if you watch it! I love hearing people's guesses and theories. 🐲🐺 (Same goes for Westworld.)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
"Amazing" is subjective, but since I love adventures, I'll mention those. My greatest adventures thus far have been: My 16-day Eurotrip during which I visited 11 cities in 4 different countries (July 2017). My 2-week roadtrip, during which I visited 12 cities in the United States (January 2017). 😁 My 6-week Eurotrip #2 during which I visited 4 countries and countless cities (Nov-Dec 2017).
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, I'm an English teacher, so I'd be happy to help you with your English! You can take lessons with me here: https://www.verbling.com/teachers/takelessonswithmegan
I always love learning new things, whether it's about history, culture, etc. I'm passionate about learning languages. Right now I'm focusing on my French and Italian. But I always try to pick up a little Spanish and Portuguese every chance I get as well. If you are patient and kind, maybe you could teach me your language!
What I Can Share with Hosts
A great time! A lot of laughs! So many smiles! 😃😃😃😃 I don't cook well, but I can manage to cook you something simple. I'm good at cleaning. I like to shower, so I don't think I'll stink up your place! 😄 Also I've been told that I should probably warn hosts that it takes me an hour to get ready to go anywhere. 🤓
