About Me
ABOUT ME
I am the kind of guy who likes dark and stormy nights (whatever that means). I have many truths, almost all are questionable and I like people who question them. I like U2, whiskey and Monica Bellucci. I do believe that the Loch Ness monster does not exist, unfortunately. I can count to ten in Vietnamese. I don't like to use the word "I" so many times in such a short text. Last but not least, I am an iconoclast and a firstborn (whatever that means, again).
PHILOSOPHY
"Age quod agis", which is kind of the same as "Carpe diem". We can discuss that, though.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far, surfing couches, making friends and finding out true brothers and sisters!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've been a guest several times, but haven't hosted anyone yet. Being a guest is amazing, though. CS evokes that original concept of hospitality which was a core value in classic, Greek humanistic culture. It's inspiring to be part of a humanizing project. Besides, I've found out not only new friends, but also new brothers.
Interests
Mankind and humanity (not the same thing - actually, it's not a thing);
cultures and culture (not the same thing either);
nature and exotic places;
and, of course, dark and stormy nights.
Music is nice, too.
- culture
- politics
- technology
- traveling
- languages
- philosophy
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm especially enjoying books and movies that instigate reflections and conversations about philosophy, psychology and history.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
So many! One of them: making a girl who was desperately crying start smiling still with tears in her eyes and change her facial expression from despair to one of the most indescribable bittersweet smiles I have ever seen. And all I had done was being there by her side, saying absolutely nothing. That may sound kind of pointless, but it made me understand a bit better the power of the mere presence and how eloquent a "listening silence" can be when someone just needs someone else to simply be there.
Teach, Learn, Share
Since it doesn't look possible to genuinely teach without learning at the same time and vice versa, I especially like to teach and learn about the art of finding purpose in life - and more concretely, purpose in working, because I consider work as a daily pleasure. I also enjoy a lot talking about languages and philosophy.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Ideas about living a significant life! I really, really appreciate what CouchSurfing is about in essence: cultural exchange. So I do like and expect to have nice conversations. And since CouchSurfing is also about hosting and being hosted according to a genuine spirit of hospitality, I can share my total interest in getting to know as much as time permits about the local, real life of people from the country and the city I'm visiting, as well as talking about the experiences I lived in the places I have visited myself.
