About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Never stop learning

ABOUT ME

I love meeting new people and learning about different countries and cultures. People fascinate me. Everyone has a story to tell. I've gotten along with pretty much everyone I have met while travelling, especially fellow CS-ers.

I'm always eager to try new things and have picked up many interests over the years: violin, yoga, hiking, snowboarding, I used to practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai Kickboxing. Buddhism is my new interest; the idea that we are all just human being with the same goal (seeking happiness and avoiding suffering) fascinates me.

I'm a tutor by trade but a violinist at heart. Since I am self-employed, I can set my own schedule... which usually means I am constantly working...but I love teaching, so I'm happy to do it.

I grew up in the USA and in Kenya. I've had the pleasure to spend a summer working in Germany and a summer studying in Vienna... love both of these places!

I really want to improve my German (I would love to be fluent one day). Also, after all the people I've met while traveling, I also want to learn Italian, French, Spanish, Arabic ...

PHILOSOPHY

"Once you stop learning, you start dying"

Step outside your comfort zone every once in a while.

Smile and the world smiles with you. Cheesy, but true (while traveling, all I do is smile when I have no idea what someone is saying to me)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was a little hesitant when I heard about CS, but finally gave it a shot while working in Germany. LOVED IT! I have had the pleasure to meet amazing people during my travels. So much more rewarding than simply following guide books. I would not trade this experience for anything in the world!

When I moved back, I wasn't able to host people, but met with travelers and showed them around Boulder, even went on a road trip / camping trip through Southern Colorado.

*** Seattle has a phenomenal CS community. After moving to Seattle, these wonderful people made me feel at home immediately!
