About Me
CURRENT MISSION
being the dirtiest Egyptian on the planet...
ABOUT ME
Yo, my name is Mohamed! I am a big friendly Egyptian down to have a good time, meet new, interesting people, and get myself into weird situations that push the boundaries of what i'm willing to do in public. And on the serious side, do what I can to at least try to help address the vast injustices of this world, through volunteer work, raising awareness, etc.
PHILOSOPHY
I'll taking interesting over comfortable any day...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've helped host several couch surfers for a couple years now at the Biko co-op in Santa Barbara, California, and used CS a bit traveling. Just hitting the road again and can't think of a better way to travel!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Met some of the coolest, most interesting people through cs.
Interests
I am absolutely fascinated by strange living arrangements, and seeing what other people have come up with. My last year in college I ran out of cash & loans, and it was either get a job or think of something, so I pitched a tent in the back yard of the co-op I was living in, and you know what? It wasn't that bad. It was great actually. I graduated, got a job as programmer with Google, bought a van and lived in their parking lot, saved every penny, retired after a year of work, and have been living & traveling on that cash since. You really don't need too much if you can just be a little creative!
Also: musical instruments, surfing, CAPOEIRA, busking, hitchhiking. i must admit i'm a beginner at most of those things, but hey i got the rest of my life to get them down!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Got back a few months ago from doing volunteer work in the Palestinian Territories, after getting arrested at a political protest in Hebron where one of the groups I was working with got 300 Palestinians and 30 Israelis to try to walk down the streets in the city center together, which Palestinians are banned from using (approx 13,000 Palestinians were cleared from their homes in that area to create a buffer zone for 600 Israeli setttlers). Tear gas, sound grenades, riot policemen dragging you off... but you want to know something really interesting? I was initially just banned from Hebron, and had nowhere else to go but my old friend's floor in Tel Aviv. I showed up expecting to have my head bitten off, but to the contrary i found a lot of people not just receptive, but supportive of what we were doing... gives you a sliver of hope at the least. I could talk for hours about that place, by far the most interesting part of my life.
