About Me

Since I quit my longtime 9-5 job, few years ago, I’ve been changing jobs, working in different industries, living in different places and traveling a lot more. Still running towards my self-defined freedom.

Sometimes working from home, sometimes working from office or co-working space and sometimes working from anywhere. A novice digital nomad. Since the pandemic, I’m staying at home most of my time, and traveling in the country or to other countries.

At the moment, I’m working on different jobs and projects in travel, tourism, culture, education and media industries that keep me occupied and on the go most of the time.

In the past years, I’ve been traveling extensively across Indonesia and to other countries—have visited some countries multiple times. I have also lived in different countries both for work and study. You can check my travel photos on the Photos tab.

I’m holding one bachelor degree and two and a half master’s degrees—didn’t complete the last one due to the pandemic. And am currently looking into taking a higher education degree somewhere.

I am also into arts and culture; I’ve produced tens of paintings and published a book—hoping to publish 2 more books very soon.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was traveling frequently for work and holidays before knowing Couchsurfing. After I was introduced to this platform in 2013, I navigated around its features but still didn’t see the point for me to use this yet. The app was just sitting idle on my phone until the end of 2015, when a friend of mine apparently put me in a situation where I had no choice but to use it and see how it worked.

And after I experienced that myself, I thought it was a really powerful and valuable platform. So, I’ve been using the platform since, when I’m traveling either to find a host or people to hangout with and when I’m at home to host any travelers to stay at my humble place. The platform, in a way, enables you to connect with people in different parts of the globe and when you are lucky, you’ll find friends for life.

Interests

I am an eclectic person with a vast range of interests, so we can build pretty much any conversation or discussion on that foundation.

Music, Movies, and Books

Somehow the pandemic changed the way I see life. I’ve become more appreciative of music that connects me with my surroundings. I love movies that portray true stories of life. And I’m more interested in people as books—where they are coming from, what they are going through; I think somehow it helps me to grow holistically—mind, heart and soul.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Looking back a few years ago, I’m so glad I didn’t give up and I’m so proud of myself for getting up and standing tall again. Reinventing myself and my life in the best way possible. Keep going, keep dreaming and never give up, one day you will arrive to the place you need to be. When you look at yourself in the mirror, you’ll understand that you are the reason why you are where you are today.

Teach, Learn, Share

These three are parts of lifelong learning process. Basically, I’m an easy going person and a born learner. So, I am open to anything new and love to discover the unknowns. I often challenge myself to be comfortable outside my comfort zone. Because that in itself, you’ll find the opportunities to teach, learn and share about life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Basically, I love the idea of sharing, be it something tangible like food and souvenirs or something intangible like stories and experiences. So, if you happen to host me when I’m traveling, just let me know in advance if you need me to get you something from my home base specifically or Indonesia in general.
