My name is Moinak Daz, but there seems to be an awful lot of confusion pronouncing my first name!

If you think you can pronounce it then go ahead, otherwise Daz, short and simple will do the trick, most of my friends refer to me by that name anyway!

I am from Edinburgh, Scotland and I am studying Physics (Masters) at Heriot-Watt University.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have always loved to travel, infact I love the travel part more than getting to the destination. Counterintuitively, according to Henry Miller, one's destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things; which I couldn't agree with more.

Recently I have been feeling like I'm stuck under too much monotonous university work, as much as I enjoy it, I am looking for a few days to breath.

My friend told me about couchsurfing andI thought it's an excellent way to actually meet local people with similar interest than the normal tourist trip, so here I am!

Interests

I absolutely love flying ! I started flying through the East of Scotland Universities Air Squadron (ESUAS) which is a branch of Royal Air Force Voluntary Reserve (RAFVR). I have been fortunate enough to get up to some very exciting opportunities when them but more on that later.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy a diverse range of music, everything from the classics of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin to Justin Timberlake. I am also a film fanatic. From time to time I do enjoy reading books, with my favourites being conte philosophique of Voltaire. Movies wise I'm a sucker for a comedy and the usual rom-com but that's behind closed doors of course ! ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My lifetime achievement so far is to fly solo! The sensation of literally being free as a bird is indescribable.
