About Me
I love life and endeavor to live it to its fullest. This includes helping others realize the beauty of co-creation. I feel most liberated when I am bicycling, working in the garden, teaching and practicing holistic medicine, and spending time with animals and in nature and in the kitchen. I am currently learning Ecuadorian cooking.
As of 2017 I am a permanent Ecuadorian resident. I hope to someday have land of my own to be able to develop a permaculture farm and holistic health center for folks to visit, heal, learn and share the wisdom of their traditions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on Couchsurfing because I am interested in meeting people along my travels and sharing life-affirming experiences.
I like that Couchsurfing is part of the sharing economy. I have been involved in timebanking for 11 years where people share skills and services based on time. I find participating in the sharing economy has added abundance to my life, providing many wonderful experiences that money can't buy!
In the future when I have a settled residence I would like to be able to host guests from Couchsurfing. For now I am a couch-surfer!

Music, Movies, and Books
I rarely watch movies....that being said I watched Lord of the Rings more times than I can keep track of.
I read mostly non-fiction about topics that I am interested. Here's a link to my blog page with books I have enjoyed as well as what I want to read. I updated it once or twice a year so it may not be current-to-date.

My top two favorite musicians I have been listening to lately are Medicine for the People and First Aid Kit.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
During my 2014 visit to Ecuador part of my volunteer work included rescuing jungle plants that fell into the road during heavy rainstorms. These plants that typically grow in the tops of trees, such as orchids, bromeliads, and ferns, would have been crushed by passing vehicles. I retrieved these plants during walks and bike rides and brought them to the foundation land where I was volunteering. I tied them onto trees so they could root into the bark and live on. These plants will be available for botanists to identify and quite possible could be rare species!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love teaching shiatsu! It is one of my goals to be able to teach shiatsu en espanol!
I love learning! In 2016 I received my Permaculture Design Certification. Little by little I am putting into practice what I have learned about permaculture as opportunities arise. In 2013 I completed one year of a two year doctoral program in acupuncture and oriental medicine. I took a leave of absence from the program and decided to not return to it in September 2015. I am still pursuing my research project regarding the mechanism of action of acupuncture and meridian therapies....so I am continuously researching this topic. I love geeking out with others about it!
As I wrote above, I enjoy participating in the sharing economy through timebanking. I am excited to be joining the Couchsurfing community.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share with hosts....
Zen shiatsu is a form of bodywork developed in modern Japan that uses diagnosis and treatment to bring yin/yang balance to the meridian system. Shiatsu means "finger-pressure" in Japanese. Receivers remain fully clothed during a roughly 1 hour treatment that addresses whole body well-being as well as any chief complaints. It similar to the effects of acupuncture without the use of needles...kind of like moving acupressure along the meridian pathways of the arms, legs, torso, head and neck. The number one response I hear from folks I give shiatsu to is "It is so relaxing!"
Help with cooking, cleaning, and animal care.
