About Me
Hi there! After working for years as a music teacher and non-profit employee, I've decided to take the leap into a bigger life adventure! I recently obtained my TEFL certification and am looking to teach English in Germany this fall. I'm also excited to travel a lot while I'm in Europe, eat all of the delicious things, and meet lots of new people :)
It's hard for me to find an activity I don't like. I really love to explore new places and in the past I have been known to ride my bike as much as possible, dance, hike, and sometimes run. I love to play sports, even though I am generally terrible at them.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
While I'm looking for work in Germany, I'm hoping to meet new people that have the inside scoop on what's what in my new city. Why stay in a hostel when I can chill with a local? I'll be doing boring/important looking for jobs activities, but I'm also excited to drink mass quantities of German beer and attempt to bumble my way through a new language!
Music, Movies, and Books
I love to get lost in a good book, but if I had to pick a favorite author? Neil Gaimen hands down. A little bit nerdy, mostly amazing.
For movies, I'm pretty open to most genres except for horror and romantic comedies. Romantic comedies, you guys...I just can't.
I'm really into Quentin Tarantino and Hayao Miyazaki flicks, those dudes can't go wrong!
Music is a big one. As a music teacher, unless it's crazy screaming, I think there is a lot to love in all of the genres out there. Just for fun, here are some favorites: The Decemberists, Disclosure, Hot Chip, Purity Ring, Sara Bareilles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Crosby Stills and Nash, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson - anything I can dance to!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I danced in the gay pride parade in San Francisco the year that gay marriage was approved across the United States!
Teach, Learn, Share
I spent a lot of time teaching private voice and piano lessons, it's one of my favorite things to do :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I've never done couchsurfing before, so I'm not sure what is best to list here. I'm happy to cook and bake delicious things and am kind of an organizational junkie, so if you need some help around the house, I'm good for it!
