Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like to travel, meet people, and help out however I can. I will definitely share my thoughts, couch, food, drink, anything with you.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met good people from all over the world through this project. I believe we can make a great big difference if we spread the love via couches.

I live in Rotterdam for the second year of my Master's program. I am usually unable to host travelers as I am doing a bit of long-term couchsurfing myself for this degree. But, I would love to meet up with you, go for a bike ride, or enjoy the city!

Interests

I am a fan of being outdoors, hiking, being on water, or on a bicycle. Travel is a persistent need, and so now I am living abroad for two years while enrolled in an Erasmus Mundus Master's degree.
I am a fan of music, art, reading, and creative pursuits. I really like learning new things, especially about languages, and having conversations.
I am interested in financial and development policy that creates more equitable and sustainable growth in small and rural communities. My Master's is focused on the political and social sciences, specializing in economic policy and globalization. My undergraduate degree is in Anthropology, which I use daily to study the world around me. I hope to use anthropological methods to better understand how effective economic policies are in different places around the world. I think that people offer incredible insights, experiences, and challenges that we can choose to embrace and through that, to grow. I find that these are often best shared over a meal.

Music, Movies, and Books

I adore poetry, jazz, and creative people.
Music: Currently digging Danit Treubig, Femina, and Father John Misty. I love me some Habibi Funk and yes, Beyoncé.
I have way too many economic and development anthropology books that I haven't read yet, but I'd gladly lend you one. I enjoy reading novels and about The Enneagram.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing experience was biking through Killarney National Park, probably the most beautiful place I've ever seen in my life.

Another was participating in the March for Climate at the COP24 conference in Poland. Seeing the effects of climate change and of direct action have radically shifted my personal and professional views towards activism in the last few years, but attending this March totally changed my life. I'd love to tell you how sometime in person :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Whether or not you believe that there is such a thing as time, here on earth, time moves quickly, whether you're having a great time or a horrible time. Open your mind, be present in this moment, remember to be thankful, and be ready to be amazed.
