About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Learn more and more about less and less until I know everything about nothing
ABOUT ME
I'm a research student, which means that what I'm working on is sufficiently esoteric to anyone outside the field that attempting to explain my work results in a great deal of yawning from previously alert individuals. So if you have trouble sleeping, not only have you found a kindred soul, but I may just be able to help you out with your problem.
PHILOSOPHY
To dare is to lose one's footing momentarily. To not dare is to lose oneself.
- Søren Aaby Kierkegaard
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I participated in the Montreal Collective, recruited many people I met to the site, surfed with new and veteran CouchSurfers alike, and hosted some world travelers. Waaaaay back in 2006 I also did an interview with Dan and Tanya for ABC news; you can see the footage here.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I haven't had a bad trip with CS yet, and I think that is a testament to the kind of people this community attracts. Everyone I have met through this service has been kind, giving, considerate, and interesting, and I hope that never changes. I have surfed with people from this site in over a dozen different countries and I only hope that number continues to climb.
Interests
I like to spend time outdoors going backpacking, rock climbing, inline skating, running, or playing sports. Indoors I can be found most readily in museums or coffee shops. Any kind of live show is also good, whether it be theater, concert, comedy, or a random friend with too much to drink. My favorite activity of all, however, is anything I've never done before, which is closely by a conversation with an interesting person.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've crossed oceans for people and ideas and chosen not to for the same reasons. The power of the hearts and minds of people amazes me more than the view from a mountain ever has.
Teach, Learn, Share
For practical things, I love to teach people to climb, skate, or play chess, and I also enjoy helping people with their English. I'm open to explaining anything that my sometimes random areas of expertise cover, whether it be computer science and business (my majors) or one of my random personal interests.
