ABOUT ME

I was born in the south, moved to the midwest when I was three months old, and returned to the south when I was twelve. In late May of this year, I packed a few bags and bought a one-way ticket to Portland, and I've been traveling in the region for just over a month.

I love reading and writing and exploring. I dress up as a cat pretty frequently, which started as a joke and is now something I do when I want to feel playful and free of stress.

This year I have grown as an individual and I am having a great time learning about who I am. Talk to me, I'm here to listen.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have unofficially couchsurfed for almost a year, on and off. Two weeks here, a week here, etc. I've heard I'm a pretty good guest.

Movies: The Breakfast Club, The Lion King, Juno, A History of Violence, Eastern Promises, Almost Famous, A League of Their Own, Sweeney Todd, The Lord of the Rings, Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, Secretary, Coraline.

Music: Queen, Jack Johnson, Garbage, Metric, Kimya Dawson. Music that makes me think.

Books: The Snow Queen (Joan D. Vinge), The Lord of the Rings trilogy, pretty much anything by Gail Tsukiyama, Great Expectations (Charles Dickens), science fiction, The Shepherd of the Hills (Harold Bell Wright), The Perks of Being a Wallflower (Stephen Chbosky). Way, way, way too many to list.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I have witnessed some of my friends rise up from the most terrible adversities I have ever seen, and become strong and independent human beings who know they are worth something. That is amazing to me.

Watching my hair fall onto the floor after handing my best friend a pair of scissors and saying "Happy birthday" was pretty amazing. (My hair was later donated to the Gulf Coast.)
