About Me

I've recently graduated uni and am about to start a job working in the woods in BC this summer (this will involve measuring trees, getting bitten by *lots* of mosquitoes, walking around in spiky boots, hopefully will get a helicopter ride). But before then, I'm travelling to Hungary and Croatia! My first trip outside of North America and I'm really hoping to meet some folks who live in the places I'm travelling to. I love the outdoors and exploring new landscapes, but I'm also looking to experience some new music, art, food. I have a quiet side, but I'm friendly, like adventure + challenge and meeting new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've done a few hospitality exchanges before and they've been very warm + memorable experiences. I like getting to know new people, how they live and what they think about the place they're in. I'm hoping to find a host or two for this trip but also interested in meeting up with people!

Interests

Right now I spend most of my time riding bikes, or trying to learn to fix my bike, + sewing, or trying to fix my sewing machine. When I'm in school, I like working with my hands in my spare time. When I'm working, I like reading in my spare time.

Music, Movies, and Books

- My spotify has a lot of Canadian (Quebecois, maritime) folk, hip-hop, classic rock, bluegrass.
- Diehard for poetry (20th century English stuff) + ecology and nature writing, but beyond that I love fiction, too much to list and no particular genre of preference. Always curious to hear people's take on a book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Cycled solo from Vancouver to San Francisco. One month, 1600km! Traveling by bike is just the right pace for me, fast enough to get somewhere and slow enough to feel like you've really moved through a place. Favourite parts: sunsets on the Oregon Coast, big (BIG) trees in northern California, and campfires with fellow cycle-tourists.
- Babysat some goats on a mini-farm in northern Alberta!
-Hitchhiking and camping around Vancouver Island and the BC coast
