About Me

Hello!
I'm a student from Melbourne and am currently traveling in Europe, mainly for research purposes. I've studied literature, politics, history, gender studies and art history in my time at uni. The result is that I have lots and lots of questions floating about in my mind, and few answers.
I love to hear other people's stories and philosophies – ideally sharing food with them :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I realise more and more that what I enjoy most about traveling is being able to build relationships and share experiences with people whose life experiences and histories and points of cultural reference differ wildly from your own. I'm on Couchsurfing because I think it's a great tool to help facilitate cultural and interpersonal exchanges.

Interests

I'm a little food-obsessed. I love going to markets, reading about food systems and cooking for other people. I like to think I make a good risotto and an even better bowl of hummus- but I can let you be the judge of that ;)

I love being outside on my bike or simply walking around exploring new places and people watching - which I think is a highly underrated past time.

My time living in Italy has really made me reflect on the importance and beauty of learning other languages and so I'm eager to pick up my Japanese again or maybe start Spanish!

Music, Movies, and Books

At the moment I'm trying to read fiction mostly written in Italian. A few authors that I have enjoyed are: Elena Ferrante, Alberto Moravia, Antonio Tabucchi, Italo Calvino + Elsa Morante.

In terms of film, I have recently enjoyed the work of Michel Haneke, Almodovar, Pier Paolo Pasolini, and Warwick Thornton.
