About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To visit every country in Latin America!
ABOUT ME
I would describe myself as a very unusual nerd... I am totally in love with my career as Plant Biologist, I am a great student, love learning and any kind of game where you use your brain. At the same time, I have a passion for salsa dancing, or any kind of Latin dance. One of my dreams is to open my own salsa school. I try my hardest to go to a biology conference and a salsa conference at least once a year.
Although my last name might fool you, I am completely "tropical" with all the cultural background that it implies. Any temperatures below 70F is absolutely "cold" for me, I have to dress up even if it's just to go to the grocery store, I enjoy eating good food and working out, and I hug and kiss my friends when I see them, among other "tropical" things...
And, I recently became about 70% vegetarian, another good friend's influence... I guess the good things also stick to you.
PHILOSOPHY
To me it's pretty simple, be passionate about what you do and you'll be the best at it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I would love to travel and meet new friends, know places with the people that actually live in them
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am totally new to the CS community, but I have heard so many good stories from a friend, that I decided to give it a try. I enjoy meeting new people while traveling, so I am sure CS and I will be a great match!
Interests
I love to dance, especially to Latin music (salsa, merengue, bachata and chachacha). I enjoy dancing salsa "en linea" (Puerto Rican style), but Cuban salsa ("rueda" or "casino") always wins my heart and soul.
I also enjoy zumba, hiking, watching movies, a good cup of tea or coffee, and my recently discovered pleasure, vegetarian cooking (excluding tofu, sorry...). When traveling, love to walk everywhere, and see everything, but taking time to really enjoy the places.

Music, Movies, and Books
In music, anything Latin, from salsa to merengue, bachata or reggeaton, this last one is great for gym workouts, but my ears are open to any good music except for heavy metal. Since my cousin introduced me to horror/thriller movies when I was like 6 years old, I love them, not too much blood, only good suspense. My favorite book of all times "Memoirs of a geisha". Not really an avid reader, but when a good book is suggested I always end up reading it, so any suggestions??
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
If I have to pick one, I have to say waking up in a hammock, in a little hut along the river in the Amazon in Venezuela, and seeing the Salto Angel (Angel's Fall) right in front of me. The longest waterfall in the World, and it's right there! Of course, I had to hike up to see it up close. Amazing!!! :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I try my best to avoid using the word "no". It was a friend's suggestion, and I can see the impact it has had. More recently, I found an article saying that our brain find harder to process the word "no", so it makes your brain work harder and be less efficient, and at the end, it doesn't get processed anyway, weird?!
