About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to live boldly, and to find wildness everywhere i go

ABOUT ME

Living in and loving Asheville since April 2009. Still got that travel itch, but truly enjoying doing good work in a wonderful city amongst lovely friends, inspirational peers, and the beautiful mountains.

PHILOSOPHY

It's beautiful out there but also in here, too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My wandering blues swayed me to spend countless nights on kind people's couches, enjoying their food, company, music, smiles. I look forward to hosting again and passing their graciousness right along down the path.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Sometimes too little, sometimes too much. I am forever indepted to the kindess of so many and feel so fortunate that CS came into my once boring office life in 2004 :) I'll forever be enamoured with this concept and the people it affords me to meet.

Interests

Exploring, hiking, contemplating, photographing, reading, dancing, dancing, dancing, sitting, music making, yoga, chanting, smiling at kids, walking slowly, cooking veggies, tending plants, noticing every breath.

Music, Movies, and Books

New music: taraab style from swahili coast, crazy ethiopian rhythms, malagache yodelling. south africa: thandiswa, simphiwe dhana, mandoza. Old faves:los fabulosos cadillacs, 99 posse, seu jorge, red rocket, miles davis, ray charles, caetano veloso, piaf, brel, gainsbourg, and the whole old smoky french crew.
Books: wow, too too many. Plants: more than one hundred.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living for six months with a family in a rural South African village. I had no electricty, but wonderful neighbors who taught me Zulu songs. A tragic, crazy, wonderful, inspirational place. Slow strolls on a dusty winter day, tea in a home with empty cabinets, raucous church services in the tin-roofed school, smiles from grannies planting another year's crop...amazing.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Czech Republic, Ethiopia, France, Guatemala, Italy, Kenya, Lesotho, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Mexico, Monaco, Mozambique, Netherlands, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Swaziland, Switzerland, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, United Kingdom, Vatican City State, Zambia
