CURRENT MISSION

My mission is currently to give back by showing travelers around the beautful and historic city of York. I'd also like to visit more European cities.

ABOUT ME

I have always been fascinated by traveling and experiencing different cultures, but after getting to spend one undergraduate semester in Beijing as well as four months in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, I grew even more interested in living abroad. After I graduated from uni, I got a job teaching English in a city in France called Toulouse. I fell in love with French culture (and a frenchman!). I've learned so much from living in France about how to slow down and enjoy life, and how to enjoy food (and wine of course). My dream is to experience as many different places and cultures as I can, preferably spending as much time in each place as possible. I've grown to love slow travel more and more. I enjoy learning how people live around the globe, so if you come visit, be prepared for lots of questions. :)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am not currently able to host, but I am happy to show travelers around York and share some good moments together. I have many fond memories of couch surfers who made my trips special, and I hope I can do the same for your trip. In future trips, I may be looking for hosts or to meet and spend some time with locals.

Interests

Fitness including Olympic weight lifting and body building, good food and good coffee, trying new food, history, museums, art museums, hiking/walking, thrift stores/charity shops, reading, movies (especially French films), arts and crafts, languages (especially French, Spanish, and Chinese), traveling, meeting new people, learning about different cultures, philosphy, virtual reality (VR).

Music, Movies, and Books

I love thrillers/psychological thrillers, French films/series, dramas, and independent films. As for music, I love hip hop, EDM/pop, American and British classic rock, French rap, and country, but am willing to give anything a listen. I like discovering music from aroud the world. As for books, I love memoirs, especially by Southern American authors. I also love American classics, history, historical fiction, anything about France, and French literature in the original version.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending a day with elephants in Thailand was an amazing experience. Also, living in France for two years has been the experience of a lifetime for a francophile like me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would enjoy helping you with your English skills. I have experience in ESL tutoring and worked as an English teaching assistant in France. I am into weight lifting (Olympic and other) so we could go possibly to the gym. I love history so I can show you the historic sights of York. I also love food so we could grab lunch or a coffee.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to share my travel experiences, American culture, and have a great time together exploring and discussing. I am the kind of person who never stops asking questions about you and your culture! I also love to discuss philosophy and current events.
