Chi sono

Back in Guatemala for two months! Can't accommodate but happy to meet up!

ABOUT ME

I am Guatemalan. Born and raised in a little colonial town called La Antigua Guatemala.

I grew up surrounded by people who travelled, family members who went all over the world. My town is a very touristy town so I was also exposed to many cultures in my own country. These are the reasons why, I think, I always wanted to travel and explore

I first left Guatemala in 2002. Got on board an old Schooner on its way to Costa Rica. I learned how to swim, sail, dive and live onboard boats. Since then I have travelled about 40 countries, lived in Lebanon, British Virgin Islands, the U.S., England etc. for the last 5 years I have been working onboard private yachts... I did my first Atlantic crossing last May onboard a 40mt Sailboat. Great experience.

Life is good! I love meeting new people. Kind, sweet, loving, smart, down to earth, people with awareness of the world around them, and I love those who love sharing conversations of growth and sharing of experiences.

I am new to the site and unfortunately I don't have a home to host anybody yet... But when I settle in one place I promise you will all have a couch to sleep in and take a breath during your travels!

Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing

I am a traveler and I love meeting cool and interesting people. I don't expect to always have a couch available, although that would be helpful. For me this is more about meeting locals, and share our stories. Travelers are the people I identify myself with, and anybody who hosts travelers must understand our lifestyle.

I have never actually used Couchsurfing, but I've met a couple of cool people while back in Guatemala last year. Would love to give it a try now that I am headed back for Europe this summer.

Musica, film e libri

The Little Prince, it's an all time favorite. I have a long list of favorite books. I wont say I read complicated quantic books. I like a good story! I also love Latin American poetry: Mario Benedetti's Tactic & Strategy it's my all time favorite poem. Love Khalil Gibran's The Prophet, The Celestine Prophecy, and many more... Re-reading some books lately. Right now reading a Reza Aslan book "Zealot The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth...
Movies I also have a few favorites but Cinema Paradiso deserves a mention for sure. Casablanca, The Princess Bride, When Harry met Sally, Say Anything, The Big Lebowski, Amelie, 80's movies, Woody Allen movies. Been watching some nice French movies on Netflix lately.
Music: well, there's a ton out there that I enjoy. It all depends on the mood, Classical (Vivaldi in the morning, Chopin to sleep), Jazz for dinner, electronic, as long as it has a rhythm and not just bass... I love 80's and 90's, Classic rock, uff! There's so many names to throw out there! I would never stop typing!
TV Shows, I love The Daily Show. Stephen Colbert, The Game of Thrones, Mad Men. Stand up Comedy (Seinfeld, Louis CK, Gervais, etc).
Food: I'm into French classic cuisine, Lebanese, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, Thai, Guatemalan, Mexican, fusions... I could eat nice bread and butter every day (I don't, of course), I love feijoada, oysters, foie gras, and black truffle, but I could eat rice and beans and avocado every day for the rest of my life. I love good food, who doesn't?

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

This actually happened last year on my birthday... It's a sad story... I pulled a girl out of a car while a guy was abusing her :(. She was so grateful. I went with her to press charges etc. it was a very intense moment, scary one too. I am just glad I was walking by at that time.

I do have stories that are not as sad though, amazing experiences and I'd love to share a few in person ;)

Insegna, impara, condividi

What I can teach? I am not really sure there is anything I can teach you... But I sure can share my energy and stories with you! I could share my love for photography and food, and enjoy a meal and a photography walk together.
