About Me
Hi everyone! My name's Mónica, I'm 32 years old (when did this happen? last time I updated my CS profile I was 24) and I'm from Mexico, from a small city called Chihuahua. Yes, like the dog and yes, we did name the city after it! (Well, no, this last bit is an unfunny joke, you better get used to my unfunny sense of humor)
I have one rabbit called Oreo and about 9 stray cats that I take care of back home. I have about 30000 pictures of them so if you want to see them just ask me, or even if you don't I probably will show them anyway.
Anyway, I've been in Finland since November 2021 and I feel like it's time to continue my travels. I'm working remotely but I always enjoy making space for meeting up with new people for coffee or beers and sharing bits and parts about each other's lives.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Like everyone else, to meet new people! It's always an amazing experience to see life through other people's eyes and learn about their culture. I have stayed in hostels and hotels, but CS is an entirely different experience for me.
I know *I* might not have that many references, but that's because it's usually my brother who accepts the requests for our house - or he used to when he lived back in Mexico. If you want to check out his references, this is his profile https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/luis_soto since people usually mention my name there too :P
Interests
Cinema, languages, culture, pop culture too, tv shows... but I'm also a bit of a nerd :( :( so sorry in advance about that.

Music, Movies, and Books
Watching movies is one of my favorite hobbies - or at least it was when I had more free time! Danny Boyle, Edgar Wright, Christopher Nolan, Park-Chan Wook, Guillermo del Toro, Alejandro Jodorowsky, etc, are some of my favorite directors.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Survived the French Alps with my family when there was just one road open. the view was foggy and we could barely see anything! It was beautiful but also the scariest thing I've ever done.
In 2019 I saw apparently one of the most beautiful northern lights in the last couple of years in Rovaniemi, Finland. Also got to meet the One and Only Santa Claus, no big deal.
I've survived 29 years as a woman living in Mexico - it doesn't get any more impressive than that!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach some Spanish and some words in Mandarin Chinese, although it's pretty rusty by now. More importantly, I can also teach you how rabbits work and how to read their body language!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can make some Mexican food for you, share my views on Mexico's current situation (politically, the narco, stuff like that) if you're interested in that. Of course, I'll also offer my company and some nice conversation. And terrible jokes.
