Here we are - a 34-year-old American teacher/marketing specialist, and a 30-year-old Hungarian tour-guide/ event organizer currently living in the heart of Budapest... Looking to travel to a bunch of places. And place bunches of travelers.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We want to participate in all possible ways: host, surf, and share whatever we can :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In 2011 we moved to Budapest from the US... After our first really good experience we got "addicted" to couch-surfing! As soon as we got our new place with a guest-room we hosted 13 "groups" of people from all over the world in Budapest :)
Even before Couchsurfing-times our home was always open (and stays open forever) to new and interesting people. While we were living in the USA we were giving couch space to friends and pretty often to friends of friends, who needed shelter...
We moved back to the US in 2013 where we shared our house with roommates, so we were not able to host travelers.
And in 2016 we again moved continents!!! We are Back in Budapest and as we finally finished settling in, renovating, finally again we are living by ourselves with plenty of space to host!!!!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Life is amazing...
Packed up our life into a storage, traveled and volunteered on 4 organic/self-sustainable farms.
Lived in and worked as caretaker of a US registered historical landmark in NJ. Organized regular fundraiser concerts and art markets in the backyard to maintain this amazing place.

Monika: I was teaching youngsters how to do peer-level environmental education as my profession for about 6 years, this I started in Hungary in 2006, and then I did it in the USA for 2 years... the philosophy of " The world if what you make of it!" is spreading!! The Hungarian laws made it harder to run nonprofit organizations, so I am only doing this as a hobby now.
As we moved back and forth from and to Budapest and the US I realized how wonderful Budapest is. It helped me to rediscover my own hometown and I fall in love to the point that I went to school to become a tour guide. I want to share my love for Budapest, show everyone the hidden gems and all the beauty that is front of your nose but you need to learn to lift up your head instead of looking at the road.... so I became a licensed tour-guide and started working in tourism as an operations manager for an event organizing company.
That is my life, I would share this... But I'm looking forward to being in situations where I learn new and new things...

A very comfortable couch on the quieter Buda side, still in the central of the city... but more importantly not just our couch but all our love for Budapest, all the insider tips on how to enjoy this city fully... and maybe even a little bit of a tour guided walk :D
