About Me
Hello!
I'm Monique from Melbourne and I love to travel! I spent 12 months off work travelling a couple of years ago and I find that the people you meet along the way make the trip :) So I'm pretty keen to try out couchsurfing for a more local experience and get to know people from the places I travel to. My next trip is Croatia, Iceland and the UK in September. I love food and wine, play basketball, dabble in a bit of yoga and meditation and love to scuba dive! I've done a lot of travel over the years (probably where most of my savings go!) and I love meeting new people from new places and getting to know a culture. I have tried learning a few languages - French, Italian, Spanish but I'd have to say I'm regrettably hopeless as I never keep up the practice (I'll pretend living in Australia miles away from everywhere else is an excuse). I wish I could be as fluent in languages as some of the people I've met! I'm big on making the most of life and it's experiences.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm new to couchsurfing and I've thought about trying it before as I love getting to know locals from the place I'm visiting but haven't had the chance yet. I would love to stay with someone along the way who can give me a bit more of an idea from a local perspective about the place I'm travelling through. I'm also keen to meet new people along the way as I often travel solo.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There's so many amazing things in life and travelling I don't know how to pick just one! Some of my favourite experiences are climbing kilimanjaro in Tanzania, volunteering in Nepal, snorkelling with turtles and sea lions in the Galapagos, bungee jumping in New Zealand, and of course meeting incredible people from so many different backgrounds along the way!
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm happy to help out with English practice or give advice on places I've travelled to previously, or of course teach you more about Australia!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Travel stories, good company, English practice (and I'm willing to have an attempt at any other language despite being hopeless compared to the Europeans!), everything I love about Melbourne and Australia.
