COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

yes, first time in Bali and Java. Very good experience to get to know people from where you arrive. Maybe not a good idea for the first night so, after a very long trip... If you travel very far away, maybe take a hotel for one or two nights before you stay at someones house. That's my feeling. Unless you really do not want or can afford it.

travelling alone... so impossible for the big majority. Trying to learn madarin at 50 years old, and going specialy to China for that. Hyking some crazy mountains alone.
And know I can add... climbing the Merapi in Java, by night!!! so hard! But I did it.

could be a good tour guide in Guadeloupe. I speak english, spanish, french, and I am learning mandarin. But I am not a good teacher! If we find the ingrediens, I could teach how to make "crêpes" :-)
