About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To take over the universe one caffinated beverage at at time
ABOUT ME
The Monkey fled the States many moon ago - like most escapees both running from some things and searching for others. She lost her hang ups (mostly) and found a new place to nest in the Motherland. With her Bear companion she quests for adventure, consciousness and the perfect cup of tea.
PHILOSOPHY
Every atom contains a map of the universe and a myriad of angels can dance on the head of a pin.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have been lurking around the CS community for about a year now without jumping on the couch. I decided to make it official
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I was taking people into my home for about a decade before I learned that there was a name and organization for people who travel around crashing at other people's houses.
Interests
When I'm not working I like to chillax. I dig reading, playing video games, philosophizing, eating great food and shaking it on the dance floor . I love snowboarding, rollerblading and splashing around in large bodies of water. I also hug trees. You can instantly engage me by talking about metaphysics, meditation, astrology or anything mystical.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books – Books are mon raison d'être. I am a devourer of the written word, and thanks to my Kindle I don’t even have to walk to the bookshelf when reading through a series. Mostly I read in English though I dabble in French lit, Spanish poetry and Italian fashion magazines. Love Fantasy – JRR Tolkien, Robert Jordan, Theodore Sturgeon, Roger Zelazny, Brandon Sanderson, Cecilia Dart-Thornton, Neil Gaiman, Mercedes Lackey, Clive Barker. Comics – Garth Ennis and Alan Moore. Kevin Smith is pretty ok too. Poetry is my truest love though I have to measure my intake so as to remain grounded in reality. Favorites are Neruda, Elliot, Pound, Bukowski, Poe. Used to be very into Surrealists like Paul Eluard and Joyce Mansour. I don’t do much non-fiction unless it’s philosophy where I lean towards the Buddhists and the Existentialists.
Music – Another of my great passions. Having hippy parents and growing up in New Orleans definitely impacted my all-encompassing taste. I’m working with about 500 gigs of music at the moment spanning the decades, genres and artists. Ask me about ‘em and I’ll probably start singing off key.
Movies – I’m not into serious films that take themselves seriously. That said, I have a weakness for the ahhhhrt directing of Peter Greenaway, especially the Pillow Book. I love fantasy – favorites being The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, The Princess Bride. I’m a big fan of comedy like Old School, Zoolander, Better Off Dead, Pineapple Express, Mall Rats. Any Jane Austen adaptations except for the latest Pride and Prejudice. I spent my last semester in uni listening to the select-a-song from Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The only film I ever finished and started again immediately was Dangerous Beauty. I almost did with Batman Begins but passed out and started it again with my coffee.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Every moment is amazing depending on your perspective.
Teach, Learn, Share
When you teach you learn. The best way to learn is to shut up, stop formulating your next response and actually listen to what other people have to say. I’m down for sharing a meal, a bottle of wine, and a laugh. Deep thoughts optional.
