À propos de moi
CURRENT MISSION
COUCHABUNGA!
ABOUT ME
I love writing, reading, travel, music, the ocean and other bodies of water, and meeting new people, so come sleep on my couch! Actually, right now my wife and I are living with our sister and her family. The house is pretty crowded, so we aren't really in a position to host. However, as soon as we get our own place, we'll be open for business again!
PHILOSOPHY
Live each day like it were your last, cheesy though that may sound. Also, anything out of the Tao Te Ching.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Surfing and hosting whenever and wherever I can. Also, I'd love to get involved in a 3rd Sunday Potluck kinda deal at some point.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
An old girlfriend from college (Jess Cummings, look her up!) introduced me to it, and I remember thinking, wuh oh, that doesn't sound safe. But of course once I looked into it I realized what a well-run program it is, and I now believe it is one of the most beautiful things the world wide web has yet to do for us. My friend Peter Lord (look him up!) and I lived together in the summer of 09, and we hosted several groups of people. We had a really wonderful time doing so. Later I went on an enormous road trip around the U.S. where I did lots and lots of couchsurfing and met some incredibly awesome people. I wasn't able to do too much CSing in Mongolia, but the few experiences I had were of course awesome. It's an amazing service.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
Movies: Anything by Alexander Payne (Election, About Schmidt, Sideways, The Descendants). My favorite movie might be The Squid & The Whale.
Music: I'm a big music fan, so it's hard to sum up my tastes. Some of my favorite bands are The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Byrds, Fleetwood Mac, and I also love Bert Jansch, Leonard Cohen, and Neil Young. Check out my Last.fm for a more comprehensive look at what I listen to: http://www.last.fm/user/moodyzeppelin12
Books: Some favorite authors include Paul Theroux, John Steinbeck, Albert Camus, J.M. Coetzee, Raymond Carver, Lawrence Durrell, and Yeats has gotta be the best poet ever.
Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
I traveled overland from Athens to Cairo in eighteen unbelievable days. It was one of the most exhausting and exhilarating experiences of my life. A particular highlight was waiting at the Syrian border for six hours in the sweltering desert heat to be issued a visa by officials who spoke no English. Amazing.
Enseignez, apprenez, partagez
I can talk about all sorts of boring things involving literary theory, and I get pretty passionate about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict (I won't tell you which side I'm on), and I have some interesting inner perspectives on US 3rd party politics (my mom has run for governor of Maine twice and vice president of the USA once). So if you wanna learn about anything like that, come stay on my couch! Or let me crash on yours!
