Overview
About Me
Just chilling with Midna, my 1994 Suzuki GN125 motorcycle, wild camping, volunteering with WWOOF and Workaway, and heading south towards Africa where I hope to bargain an Atlantic passage crewing a sailing ship. If that works out, I will find another motorcycle in South America, and explore the ancient mysteries of the continent until the universe guides me elsewhere!
ABOUT ME
Leaving school at 18 after completing all my courses, I set off on my first solo adventure, 365 days travelling along through Oceania. I barely survived, but actually LIVED, and have never stopped travelling since.
After five years of performance training I came to the conclusion that there is actually no hard and fast rule as to what performance really is. I began to appreciate the world through absorption and reflection, and I try to appreciate, skew, exaggerate and enjoy all the little idiosyncrasies of what it is to be a human. I took a life-direction change and became heavily involved in Environmental work. I have planted thousands of trees, volunteered through WWOOF in 11 countries, and rolled thousands of miles by bicycle and motorcycle, trying to re-empower humanity through foolish, naïve, endless positivity and love!
I like going for walks/rides/adventures and breathing it all in, really feeling all the life and the regeneration that's going on; a massively complex biological life-machine.
The ocean fascinates me also- it's power, it's mystery, and ultimately that it's movement is governed by the moon! I love moons and stars and planets! Despite endless studying, I feel that the galaxy is something I will never fully appreciate, which is eternally encouraging! Always more to learn! The natural world continues to amaze me- that it works so well in harmony with itself, like the cogs and wheels on a watch, each aspect of the universe has a knock on effect on the other- I live in perpetual awe. We could learn from this system!
I love being with people and swapping stories, although I prefer house parties to going out to the clubs for a few reasons; I don't want some fat bald man with a walkie-talkie to tell me what I can and cannot wear when I'm partying, I want to be able to drink rum from the bottle, I want to sit and get into conversations with my friends and laugh and fall around without being afraid of ejection, and I want to hear good music/Cat Empire!
I've had a life full of travel, amazing people, brilliant times and real experiences, and it's constantly astounding to find others who've LIVED! I love hearing stories, seeing favourite places, hearing favourite songs, and basking in positive energy from good people- what a thrill! Come and join me, we'll have a good old laugh about our good old lives.
PHILOSOPHY
Don't ever think that it's over, because right now could be extraordinary. Do not become satisfied with mediocrity. Oppose injustice, and support new thoughts. Dispel ignorance, encourage individualism. Empower yourself and those you meet to become the best versions of themselves.
Ignorance isn't bliss, and the meek will inherit nothing, so make a sandwich, read a book, pack a bag, and GO OUTSIDE AND EXPLORE!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I see that far too many are becoming overwhelmed by the power and influence of technology and media, and we as a species are losing our basic skills of analogue communication and independent existence... travel and CS allows us to flex and explore these abilities which are being overridden by celebrities, wifi, gym memberships, and all that control-disguised-as-luxury nonsense! GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY!
Discover and enjoy.
Hosting is an excellent opportunity to see a familiar place with fresh eyes, and surfing is a unique exchange of that pleasure. Frequently the voyagers I have hosted or met in transit have informed the decisions I made about my next directions- making the little experiences part of something much bigger... and unpredictable.
Interests
Camping, motorcycling, foraging, and the Universe. Nature, animals, and the ever-astounding passage of space-time. Discussions, cooking, building. If I can, I try to fit some element of each of these passions into every day. It helps me to remember who I am.
Oh of course, and listening to music. ALL THE TIME.
Marking the flow of life, highlighting, underpinning, accompanying... music is the most incredible thing ever! WOW!

An eccentric, eclectic taste, entirely devoid of interest in crime fiction, romantic literature, or anything remotely fashionable in the 21st Century.
