Overview
About Me
I'm a social, friendly, creative person with a positive outlook on life. I love meeting new people and learning what they're passionate about.
I enjoy making time for silliness and adventures as I try and do good in the world, living a creative life, surrounded by good people who inspire and nourish each other.
I'm a writer. I love playing with words. My first novel was published in March 2015. I spent five years working on it and it feels amazing having it out in the world. I pay the bills creating content for an organization that teaches social intelligence, and other companies.
It feels like another life ago, but I spent a year traveling around Asia and some of my most meaningful experiences were weeding rice terraces in China and riding on top of the buses in Nepal, alongside local people. I love understanding how different people live and see our world.
Burning Man nourishes me creatively and emotionally. It makes me think a lot about how I want to live my life and the beauty of being less plugged-in to technology and more connected with other people.
I've got a good sense of humor and am easy to get along with. If you think we might get along I'd love to hear from you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm very social and love connecting with new people. I enjoy connecting with local, Bay Area CouchSurfers, as well as having coffee or a drink with people from all over the world who are visiting.
I've met some great people through CS. For example, my host in Osaka, Japan was an amazing Italian woman. We went to a ramen noodle museum together, she took brought me to a takoyaki (fried octopus ball) party and showed me a side of Osaka I never would have seen otherwise. We stayed in touch and when she came out to the States, I got to host her! Years later, we're still friends and stay in touch over Skype.
Interests
I love hanging out with friends and meeting new people.
Reading and writing.
When I'm not out socializing with friends, I enjoy chill evenings at home with my finance, Tyler, cooking veggie dishes with fresh, seasonal produce, and listening to "This American Life".
I love hiking and being outside in nature. I feel like time spent outside is time well spent. If you're visiting the Bay Area I can give you some good hike recommendations. In the past few years I've gotten more into camping and now am totally hooked.
I also enjoy having picnics, building sand castles, hosting clothing swaps, visiting art museums, making pancakes in the shape of animals, going to see live music, performing improv theater and being silly.
I'm interested in social justice issues including LGBTQ rights, organic farming, the environment, and lots more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I taught sex-ed to Dalit ("Untouchables Caste") teenage girls in India. While volunteering with grass-roots non-profit, the Sambhali Trust, I created multi-day, interactive workshops covering nutrition, exercise and sex-ed. It was a total blast and the girls loved it.
Teach, Learn, Share
I enjoy cooking and baking - maybe we can teach each other how to cook something?
What I Can Share with Hosts
I make my own kombucha. If you're interested I can show you how I do it and give you a SCOBY.
I can also share stories, ideas and experiences.
