About Me
ABOUT ME
Friendly, social, outgoing-yet-introspective at the same time, and apparently prone to moments of randomness and scattiness that both amuse and bemuse the people closest to me.....refer to my references below for a more coloured description if you need it!
Grew up and studied in the western fringes of Ireland and then moved to Dublin where I spent five chaotic but very memorable years... from there I've just finished an epic 10 months travelling about Latin America and right now it looks like I'll be bouncing between Australia and NZ for the next while at least. I'm a jaded travel shipwreck as I write this but pretty sure there's an adventure or two left in me yet!
Have a degree and masters in computer science, work career to date has mostly focussed on market research, strategy and other weird banter for new tech companies, while I'm not working right now it could be time to return to that world soon.
PHILOSOPHY
Be open to new ideas and experiences...and keep on improving, it keeps things interesting. Don't be afraid to take the lead, but also follow when it feels right. And lots of other pearls of conceited wisdom that I can't think of right now.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've been involved in CS for over a year now and have met some great people because of it - so far I've had CS experiences in Ireland, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Miami, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, Colombia, Peru and Australia among others. I also hosted a few peeps while in Dublin and hope to do the same wherever I settle next, or at least meet some CSers from time to time and show them around. CS is a brilliant concept and for me has helped keep things interesting and a bit less predictable!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Interests
Electronic music, clubbing, history, politics, armchair sports, running, slagging, ranting, finance and general business nerd talk....I'm the sort of person who knows a little about many things rather than knowing all of one thing, so don't worry, we'll figure out something out....

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: mostly underground house/techno artists you've probably never heard of but feel free to ask more :)
TV/Movies: Been doing the DVD box set rounds of late - Sopranos, The Wire, Mad Men, Eastbound and Down, and just started into House. Last decent film I watched was the The King's Speech, worth a look
Books: not a huge fiction person and actually read very little while travelling, but I like hearing about what others are reading. Autobiographies about sport icons and entrepreneurs overcoming adversity can be interesting, I'm a masochist at heart ;)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
(In more recent times......)Waking up to the San Blas Islands, Icelandic barbecues at 2am, hopping off a plane in Havana for the first time at sunset and feeling like you're Neil Armstrong, almost killing myself on a scooter while doing an improv U-turn across an 8 lane Brazilian motorway, driving about New Zealand and feeling you're back home again, diving across a 5000ft continental shelf in Honduras, finding out you're not actually going to die if you go to Mexico City (yes believe it!)
...and too many others to mention right now.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you the basics of djing and beatmatching.... how to play poker if you don't know already, kick your ass at pool, give you a computer/internet/gadget/technology 101.....and as I speak English (and dodgy Spanish!) I can do some of that if you find it useful.
