About Me

24/Nov/2016
Has we are always changing and even personality traits get to shift once in a while it's impossible for this description to be as organic as we are. I've recently ended my Masters after 20 years of being a student. I've spent the last years feeling stuck to this path and the main reason that made me finish it was my feeling over the expectations of my parents and my own fear of giving energy to the pattern of not ending what I start.

I am finally free to do what ever I want to do in this world and has I expected I am not feeling this freedom has strongly has reality. Self imprisonment is a pattern too and I am now in the quest of unveiling it.

As a friend so beautifully made me realize, we are all to big for this world and any description becomes shallow side a side to a true and open human encounter. The following description is a patchwork of many different states of mind and ideas of the last 6 years:

I enjoy friends, traveling, kisses, partying, eating, drinking, reading, and thinking for a living

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am a host and a guest. Love to visit Porto with travelers and show the sights of the old center.
I really enjoy walking, talking, visiting places and get to know people.

Back in 2012 I've made a lot of non official couchsurfing back in Brasil, just asked people door-to-door for a couch when I reached a new place. Students dorms where my favorite.

Interests

Talking about perception, spaces, places, people, time, politics, movies, books and our own experience through life makes my day.
I do a lot of photography and listening to music it's part of my life survival kit.
Also love a good party and the way a beer can get people together.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like everything that feels like learning. Love Movies, love music, love books.

Even more than enjoying watching a movie, reading a book or listening to a song, I'm really interested in this creative process, the life of the artists and the theme of art it self. What is Art. What's music, playing it, reading, writing, how does it contribute to our development to watch a movie and how is it to work in a studio and how it feels to stript it and to direct it. What are the frustrations and the pleasures of the creative process, why are we so captivated by it, what does is mean to us.

Last Movies

Lately i've been seeing all the movies from tarkovsky. I'm admiring how true they are and how strongly they can make you grow with them. Solitude is the key word i would say.

I've recently seen Love and was prepared for anything after that first scene. It tries to show you how glueish you and a relationship can get if you don't face your self head on.

Luc Besson got me curious, after seeing his movie Angel-A i went on searching for his filmography and he goes from super commercial and holiwoodesque to deep/hidden meaning movies.

Last/Current Music

Ive been wondering throught brasilian roots and new music, from the origins of Forro and Samba to Seu Jorge and Criolo.

Been curious about classical music and discovered Beethoven is delightful, who knows which composer comes next.

A moroccan friend showed me Ali Farka recently and since i've been growing this thirst of arabic bands which is giving me so many good references and making me study so much alternate topics about their history.

I've scrolled throught every king of taste in music. There's a music for every moment right?

Last/Current books:

The Power of now has been a friend for some time now, I already re-read it several times and i am sure im going back to it anytime. Everyone should know about what Eckhart tolle has to teach.

Allan Whats is a delightfull speaker and i love his way of explaining the hindu and Buddhist philosophy. That is why i got this two books, The Wisdom of Insecurity and The Book. I've started with the book. It is adding a thicker layer to my understanding of living the now.

Because of my curiosity about Mediterranean, southeast Asia, India and Balkans. I ended up on the verge of buying an expensive book about the roots of Sufi, a creed of Islamic Religion, from Rumi, a Persian philosopher and spiritual teacher from the siege XIII. He speaks of living in a state of Love for one self and he usually does it in the form of poems. But the book i am willing to buy is a narrative on how to understand the rat traps of our own minds to lead us into egocentricity, the fake sensation of coming to this world instead of coming from it and with it, so, being it.

I've Read The Foreigner and The Fall from Albert Camus and i am now starting The Myth of Sisifus. This theory of the Absurd is, in a way, reshaping the way i think.

Next will Follow Michele de Montaigne a radical philosopher from the siege XVIII that was against all boring knowledge and believed that culture exists for fun and not for its own sake. This guy was considered to be and "archi-best friend" by Camus.
