About Me

FACT: guys, I don't use this as a dating plataform. Just DON'T be ~that~ guy. BE RESPECTFUL. Ok? Ok!

Hey! :)
My name is Débora and it's nice to meet you.
I have a major in Portuguese and Literature, but now I'm a Journalism student. I guess that's an important information about me because I REALLY love to read, write and meet people. I also love hearing life stories and getting in touch with other cultures. Maybe that's why traveling is the greatest passion of my life.

Since I was little, I feel a need to experience the world, so I've always pictured myself traveling around and meeting all kinds of people. It's a bit of an inner search for balance or purpose, idk. Yeah, I sound like a dreamer, but you know what they say... I hope someday you'll join us. :)

I'm not able to host anyone in Brazil for now, but feel free to talk to me and ask whatever you want to know about Rio de Janeiro, my hometown. I may not be able to help you in person (internship-job-college routine, and some sleep in between) but I'll be happy to share anything that may help you in your trip.

I studied in Coimbra, Portugal, for 6 months, but I'm back to Brazil now.

Best for last: what's YOUR story?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As said before, I love meeting people and their cultures. CS is an amazing tool for that, but this is far from its only bennefit: on CS, I can help people as they can help me! Awesome, right?

Oh, since I was little, I have a (not so secret) obsession about learning new languages. I would be REALLY happy if you could teach me a bit of yours. Btw, I've tried to learn german once and, although it was an epic failure, I'm still up to it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Coldplay and OneRepublic are some of my favorite bands; Shonda Rhimes is my love&hate paradox; Ross and Rachel were not on a break; Amélie Poulain, 500 days (of Summer), Blindness, One Day and the "Before" trilogy live in my heart.
Oh, I'm currently obsessed with Outlander, both book and tv show.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've rescued a dog from the streets and kind of helped saving a friend's life, but I don't considere those as "amazing things". I just did what I had to do and was in the right place at right time.

Oh, I have five tattoos.
I did a 3 hours hiking from Phirá to Oía, in Greece, alone.

Teach, Learn, Share

Be silly. Be honest. Be kind.
Always.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a bit of a dorky, but I think that's a good thing to break the ice. I try to know a bit of everything, so I'm open to listen and learn.
In exchange, I can share some tips about literature, tv shows and art in general. If you want to learn or improve languages' skills, I can (try to) teach you some, specially portuguese :-)

Oh, I really like to cook, so maybe I can offer you a dinner/lunch or some sweets. I wouldn't mind if I could just eat for the rest of my life. Really.
