关于我
“In one way, traveling has narrowed my mind. What I have discovered is something very ordinary and unexciting, which is that humans are the same everywhere and that the degree of variation between members of our species is very slight. This is of course an encouraging finding; it helps arm you against news programs back home that show seething or abject masses of either fanatical or torpid people. In another way it is a depressing finding; the sorts of things that make people quarrel and make them stupid are the same everywhere.”
-Christopher Hitchens
I am a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in economics and public policy. I am now living in Serbia on a US Diplomatic Fellowship.
I grew up in a very small farming town in northern Indiana (midwest United States) where the days are long and quiet.
I hitchhiked across Europe when I was 19, lived in Serbia when I was 20, moved to Hong Kong for 6 months when I was 21, and worked in New York City 3 months after that. In October 2019, started a fellowship administered by the U.S. Department of State and moved back to Europe.
I opened a company when I was 19 that exports honey from Southeast Europe to the US. The profits are used to finance entrepreneurial education initiatives in Serbia.
I have had a breadth of experiences, each of which I am very grateful for. I have dined with diplomats, trekked through the Himalayas, been stung by bees on Balkan bee farms, worked in business consulting on Wall Street, and lived on a farm. I have climbed a volcano in Japan, swam with deadly tiger fish in the Pacific Ocean, and snorkled with sea turtles in Hawaii. My most recent adventure was a 4 day horse trek and living with the nomads in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. I can't wait to add to this list by doing amazing things in your country
我为什么加入 Couchsurfing
I want to experience the world in the most real way possible while meeting the most interesting people!
I visited Japan when I was 18 and had the opportunity to stay in the home of a Japanese couple. They opened up their home to me, shared their stories, showed me around the city, and taught me some interesting Japanese traditions and history. My experience with that couple showed me that the only way I wanted to travel in the future was to spend it with other amazing and interesting people. Couchsurfing gives me a way to meet new people who I otherwise would likely never have the chance to meet.
