About Me
I am a recent university graduate from Canada that is now off to travel Europe for 14 months! Like many Canadians, I love hockey, snow, being outdoors and driving down backroads with the windows down and country music playing loud. I love children, which is why I am studying to own and teach a preschool. I have two dogs that I will miss very much when I am away and I am travelling with my fiancee, Andrew, who also graduated from the University of Guelph and is a writer. We both have a love of beer, sports, and watching sports while drinking beer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My fiancee and I are very simple people. We do not need all of the bells and whistles of a hotel room with fancy decorations and elevators. We just need a bed and someone friendly to show us their favourite parts of their city.
I love people and culture, so I am looking forward to meeting a host that is not wearing a uniform and handing me a key to a hotel room. I am excited to experience local culture and would love for a kind host to show me!
Interests
Hockey, baseball, fastball, ringette, wildlife, being outdoors, hunting and fishing, exercising and working out in the gym, reading, country music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've lived alone in Quebec for five weeks, moved cities 3 times, graduated university, and many more things, and yet nothing will compare to the trip I am about to take!
Fourteen months is a long time to be away from family and friends, but it needs to be done in order to get the education I want, and to experience the world in a way that not many people get to. It is a huge step and is definitely the most amazing thing I've done yet!
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I am coming to Italy to study at the Montessori Training Center in Perugia in order to obtain my certification to teach and own my own Montessori Preschool. Maria Montessori was the first woman in Italy with a Doctorate in Medicine, and I thought that this would be the best place to study her methods of teaching children while also experiencing new cultures.
I also have my degree in Wildlife Biology and Conservation, so anything that you want to know about the natural world, especially forest ecosystems, I can answer.
I can help you with your English or French if you are trying to learn.
Learn: I am working on learning Italian so any help is welcome. I have an atrocious accent!
Share: Stories of Canada in exchange for stories of your home and travels.
Baseball! We are travelling with our baseball gloves and would love to play or teach anyone!
What I Can Share with Hosts
After three months in Italy, we've learned a few wonderful dishes that we would love to cook for you!
