Overview
About Me
I'm really open minded to pretty much everything. A lot of personal experiences have shaped me not to judge in any way, shape or form... unless you wear Crocs.
At heart I just want to be a laid back, easygoing person. However, in practice I usually just come off as a strange, frenetic mess which usually makes for good entertainment.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet really cool, genuine people. Tourist destinations are for chumps -- I want to know how you grew up, the way your mind works and your outlook on life. I want to see where the locals hang, not where selfie sticks dominate the horizon.
Interests
Whatever you're interested in -- teach me!
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm going to hijack this section with TV shows and comics instead of the aforementioned. Primarily because I have the attention span of a squirrel, so I need my content parsed in <21 minute stretches.
TV: Rick & Morty -- Best show of all time. Insult comedy with aptly timed belching, and still witty as hell. So many layers of humor that you have to watch multiple times to catch.
Broad City -- has some great one liners.
Simpsons -- I grew up on this show.
Comics: TheOatmeal, XKCD, Hyperbole and a Half, Bizarro
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Trekked with the Black Muong people in northern Viet Nam and stayed overnight in their village. Simply indescribable.
Also, I once chugged an entire bottle of Tobasco sauce in under a minute. Subsequent destruction of my stomach lining ensued.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you all about semiconductors and how your electronics work. I know a thing or two about southern charm, and a surprising amount about how Google is quietly taking over the world.
Also, I excel at being particularly knowledgeable on useless facts, yet exquisitely worthless at anything practical. I also excel at Microsoft Excel.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My first trip outside the United States, I stayed with my friend's grandmother in a lower class home in Monterrey, Mexico. We woke up every morning to the smell of a fresh corn tortillas from a family-run tortilleria two doors down. The neighbor ran a convenient store out of his living room, and despite being an old concrete home with no hot water it was by far the most amazing cultural experience I had. Now I'm addicted.
