About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Practice my Spanish, and always, to broaden my perspective through other people and places

ABOUT ME

Hi couchsurfing friends 😊 I'm Morgana from Berkeley, California. I quit my museum job in January and have been traveling in Mexico since. LOVE the language, food, cenotes, people...I've been in Mérida for the part month, and soon will be in Tulum. Would love to meet up with locals for a drink, beach yoga, SCUBA, or whatever you have to show me.

I'm a homebody at heart, but I love to travel. What keeps me moving is the knowledge that there's a great big, fascinating world outside the wonderful California bubble. No matter where I go though, I love to meet new interesting humans, share skills, and relax with some yoga, meditation, and tea when life starts to feel hectic.

PHILOSOPHY

Be open to all experiences and see what they have to teach you

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love the couchsurfing community! Haven't been very active in the past couple years, but summer traveling has reminded me how wonderful it is. Mostly looking to stay with and meet people in my summer travels rigt now, but open to hosting when I'm back in Berkeley.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I lived in a housing co-op in Davis for several years where i was introduced to couchsurfing. I loved hosting people, sharing produce from our gardens, and giving tours of the town. I was lucky enough to be hosted by some great Couchsurfers while traveling in the States, now hoping to meet some new friends in Mexico 😊

Interests

So many interests and so little time! Fermenting foods, being outside whenever I can (hiking and kayaking), printmaking, learning new languages, books and podcasts and documentaries, farming, anthropology, museums...just about anything you are excited about I probably will be too.

Music, Movies, and Books

Right now I'm reading Kafka on the Shore by Murakami, which is the best book I've picked up in a while and Kurt Vonnegut's Sirens of Titan. I also read a lot of Buddhism and mindfulness meditation books.

please share your book recommendations! I'm always on the lookout.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just last night I watched a cat give birth to 6 slimy and adorable kittens, while in the middle of canning strawberry-rhubarb jam <3

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to teach you about relief printmaking (the cheap way and the cheaper way!), spinning wool, sewing and quilting, bread making (I'm starting sourdough now), and some Buddhist/mindfulness philosophy.

I want to learn more about fermented foods (esp beer brewing!), woodworking, bike mechanics, gardening, your language, your religion, and playing music! Really anything you're passionate and excited about, I want to learn about.
